IDRC Research AwardsGovernment-funded scholarship awarded for a year. The award amount ranges between CAD 42,033 and CAD 48,659. Travel and research expenses of up to CAD 15,000 are also supported.Students must be enrolled in a master’s or a doctoral degree  at a recognized Canadian university or should have completed these degrees within the last three years. 
Vanier Graduate Scholarships Government-funded scholarship awarded to doctoral students on a merit basis. The award amount is CAD 50,000 per year for three consecutive years of study.
  • Students must be pursuing their doctoral research in any of the following areas – Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Health Research.
  • Must have completed no more than 20 months in a full-time doctorate program by May 1st, 2024.
  • Must have completed at most 32 months in their doctorate program as of May 1st, 2024, if applied as a joint research program.
Quebec Provincial Government Scholarship 

University-level, Government-funded scholarship extended for a maximum of three years, with one extension possible for 12 months. 

Awarded to doctoral, post-doctoral, and research students. The award amounts are CAD 25,000 per year, CAD 35,000 for one year, and CAD 3,000 a month (for four months), respectively.

Vocational training students are eligible for an amount between CAD 14,000 and CAD 26,600.

Students must be registered under Quebec University under a doctorate, post-doctorate, or short-term professional development and research program. 
Ontario Trillium Scholarship

Provincial Government-funded, merit-based scholarship to award PhD students studying in Ontario.

The award amount is CAD 40,000 per year for four years.

  • Students must intend to enroll in a full-time doctoral program at any Ontario university.
  • They are not accepting any other Canadian scholarship. 
  • They are not currently studying in any Ontario university.

Non-Government Scholarships to Study in Canada for Indian Students

These scholarships are offered by non-profit organizations and foundations to encourage the participation of international students in Canada. These may also be provided only for specific fields or courses. These scholarships usually cover tuition, health insurance, travel insurance, accommodation, etc.
