1. Answer – C

Explanation: The answer to this question may be found in Paragraph A of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample. Toward the beginning of the paragraph, the author talks about neuroeconomics. According to the author, this field of science is all about the brain’s success in an economic environment to adapt to innovation. This implies that this study is about achievement in competitive fields. Hence, the answer is C.

2. Answer – B

Explanation: Paragraph A of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample has the answer. First, the paragraph discusses neuroeconomics and how this branch of study deals with the secrets to the brain’s success in economic environments and competitive fields. Then, the author talks about an iconoclast, saying that these people are known to try out things that others say cannot be done. This implies that iconoclasts have brains that function differently than others.

3. Answer – D

Explanation: Paragraph C of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample provides the answer to this question. The paragraph starts by discussing how the human brain has evolved to work as efficiently as possible. The author gives an example that whenever some information is presented before the brain, it tries to decipher it in the shortest possible time. The author continues by saying that this is done by relying on past experiences or inference.

4. Answer – C

Explanation: The answer to this question is found in the last statement of Paragraph D of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers. The writer begins the paragraph by discussing how perception is not even real. This small paragraph mentions that perception is a product of electrical and biological rumblings. Furthermore, the author says that the truth about perception goes beyond physical realities. It is more like something the brain itself creates.

5. Answer – B

Explanation: Paragraph E of the Reading passage answers this question. In this paragraph, the writer mainly discusses iconoclasts and how their brains differ from an average person's. He mentions that perception is the main thing in an iconoclast's brain. This is because their brain thinks differently – mainly by avoiding efficiency traps. This statement implies that their brain works toward avoiding cognitive traps. Hence, the answer is B.

6. Answer – YES

Explanation: The answer to this question may be found in Paragraph A of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample. In the first paragraph, the writer begins the passage by talking about neuroeconomics, which is the brain's ability to bring about innovation to think differently than competitors. So, the statement does agree with the writer's claims.

7. Answer – YES

Explanation: This question's answer is found in Paragraph F of the Reading passage. In this paragraph, the writer discusses how gaining fresh experiences can open up the brain. They can free it from the chains of past experiences and force it to think differently. In the following two statements, the writer, almost in a tone of praise, says that iconoclasts' brains are different because they seek new experiences. They are willing to be changed by them. These people embrace novelty with both arms, while others feel threatened by it. So, the statement agrees with the author's claims in the passage.

8. Answer – NOT GIVEN

Explanation: In Paragraph F of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample, the author talks about how the brains of iconoclasts differ from an average person's because they invite fresh experiences and embrace novelty. This may imply that an average person's brain could be more inviting to novel experiences. However, the author does not mention that people are shy about such experiences. So, it is not given anywhere throughout the passage.

9. Answer – NO

Explanation: The answer to this question is found in Paragraph G of the IELTS Reading sample. From the opening of the paragraph itself, the writer talks about one drawback of novelty: fear. Usually, this has to do with the fear of the new and the unknown, which keeps the person from trying out novel experiences. Besides the fear of uncertainty, the author also talks about the fear of being publicly ridiculed. So, fear has been shown as a trigger. It is through overcoming fear that one can think in an iconoclastic way.

10. Answer – NOT GIVEN

Explanation: The answer to this question may be found in Paragraphs G and H of the Reading Passage. Both these paragraphs focus on fear and embarrassment, which keep people from thinking like an iconoclast. It also talks about social intelligence and how such responses are learned. The author tells us that the human brain can be trained to enjoy becoming an iconoclast. However, he does not mention whether other fears become irrelevant with less concern for embarrassment.

11. Answer – NO

Explanation: The answer to this question may be found in Paragraph G of A Neuroscientist Shows How to Think Differently Reading Answers IELTS sample. In this paragraph, the author talks about the fear of speaking in public towards the end. He mentions that this fear often comes across as a mental illness or disorder. However, the same is simply an aspect of human nature. The author further says that iconoclasts do not allow this aspect to overrule them. The author clearly says the opposite of the statement. Hence, it is contradictory to the author's claims.
