Germany is one of the most coveted global educational destinations on account of its low tuition costs and reputed universities. German universities do not necessarily mandate higher scores in IELTS since it is not an English-speaking country. 

So, before learning about the requirements of IELTS for Germany, you should learn more about the examination in detail. IELTS is a universally recognized test of English proficiency worldwide.

2. Band Score 8- Very Good

4. Band Score 6- Competent

5. Band Score 5- Modest

6. Band Score 4- Limited

7. Band Score 3- Very Limited

The IELTS score for Germany and other countries will remain valid for two years. However, the latest score is considered if the aspirant sits for the examination twice in a single year. The examination has four parts: Writing, Reading, Speaking, and Listening. The Speaking test has to be booked on a convenient date by the aspirant, while the other sections are tested on the test day itself. There are Academic and General Training IELTS types where the Writing and Reading sections may differ. 

General Training is for those desirous of immigration to English-speaking nations, while the Academic test is for those wishing to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The Listening section takes place for 30 minutes, where candidates have to listen to four recordings in all, while the transfer time requires 10 minutes. The Reading section has 40 questions and takes 60 minutes in all. The Writing test requires 60 minutes and necessitates the completion of two tasks. The Speaking section takes 11-14 minutes, and the test has three components.

Germany IELTS Requirement

When it comes to submitting scores in IELTS for Germany, you should know that universities do not always necessitate scores of 7.0 for admission. Undergraduate course aspirants should aim for at least IELTS 6.0 for Germany with individual module scores of at least 5.5. At the same time, the average score should be 6.0-6.5 for postgraduate programs. Some German universities also take scores between 4.5-6.5. The IELTS requirement for a German student visa is a band score of 6.5 overall.
