LKG stands for Lower Kindergarden. It forms the second level of elementary education provided before primary education, with the first level being nursery and the last being upper kindergarten.

Children between the ages of 3 and 4 are admitted to the LKG classroom, where they spend about 4 hours daily centred around various learning and recreational activities

More About LKG

  • An infant's brain is in the early stages of development, and his sense of understanding is significantly slower than that of adults. For this reason, they need special attention, care, and a different teaching approach.
  • They are taught basic colours, shapes, numbers, alphabets, and so on in interactive and repetitive ways to help them understand, build their memory, and retain their knowledge.
  • This ensures that these fundamentals, which are the building blocks of education, are committed to their understanding and minds. Apart from learning, physical activity is tremendously important to them; therefore, the education system is designed to cater to their special needs.
  • The years spent in elementary school lay the foundation of a child's entire career. Along with alphabets and digits, a child learns singing, painting, drawing, writing, etc. This one-year class induces a child to form a routine and inculcate the habit of regularly going to school. Thus, these classes prepare kids for higher education.
  • The curriculum of lower kindergarten is designed in such a way that it helps the kids slowly learn the fundamentals that come in handy in primary education.
  • Their study material comprises mathematics, English, creative writing, stories and fairy tales, poems, and recreational and physical activities. These elementary classes help the kids learn to interact with others and develop a habit of formal schooling.
