The Australia Awards Scholarship is a long-term scholarship regulated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It aims to foster partner countries’ growth in terms of regional and bilateral agreements. This offers opportunities for aspirants from developing nations, especially Indo-Pacific, to undertake full-time postgraduate/undergraduate studies at participating TAFE (Technical and Further Education) institutions and universities in Australia. Eligibility 

The Australia Awards Scholarship eligibility criteria include the following: 

  • Should adhere to requirements listed in the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook. 
  • Should have IELTS 6.5 (Academic) with 6.0 as the minimum per-band score or any equivalent PTE/TOEFL score. 
  • Should meet country-specific conditions if required. 
  • Should be at least 18 years of age while beginning the scholarship program. 
  • Should not be engaged, married, or an individual with/without eligibility to have New Zealand/Australian citizenship/permanent residency. 
  • Should not be military personnel, an Australian, or a visa applicant for permanent residence in the country.

The Australia Awards Scholarship comes with the following benefits: 

  • Complete tuition costs. 
  • Return air travel payments of a single return and economy-class airfare to and from Australia. 
  • Establishment allowance (one-time accommodation payment along with textbooks and study materials). 
  • CLE (contribution to living expenses) on a fortnightly basis. 
  • OSHC (overseas student health cover) for the scholarship duration and to cover basic medical expenses. 
  • Introductory Academic Program (IAP), which is compulsory before starting formal academic education. 
  • Pre-course English fees if required. 
  • Fieldwork and research work, including one return economy class airfare to the country of citizenship or within Australia itself.

How to Apply? 

  • Visit OASIS (Online Australia Scholarships Information System) and register. 
  • Answer a few questions for working out eligibility and get the unique registration number, password, and username. 
  • You can set up the draft application and update the same with documentation until the closing date. 

If applying via mail, you should check the participating country profile for contact information to get the hardcopy form and other templates, like referee reports to be sent within the specified deadline.
