The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships or CWIT Scholarships are for those in the mid or early stages of their professions to embark on a journey to the UK to pursue academic, artistic, or professional excellence. The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship for Indian students is for aspirants to widen their network of global contacts. The CWIT has offered this scholarship in collaboration with the British Council of India for almost four decades. There are seven long-term awards under the program, covering artists in all fields and usually span ten months.

Eligibility 

The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships eligibility criteria include the following: 

  • Indian citizens residing in the country. 
  • Not received any CWIT grant over the last five years. 
  • Age between 28 and 38 years. 
  • Should possess a professional qualification, diploma, or degree in a selected field/specialization. Those with work experience and willing to study at universities outside London are usually preferred.

The scholarship offers coverage for living and accommodation in the United Kingdom, along with a £600 grant for global travel expenses.

Documents Required 

The application form should come with the following documents: 

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) stating the course desired by the applicant, his/her objectives of coming to the UK, and the plans for putting his/her knowledge to use upon his/her return to India. 
  • IELTS certificate. 
  • Evidence of acceptance into the program/course/internship in the country or proof of progressing towards the same. 
  • Portfolio.

How to Apply? 

How to apply for Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships? Applicants are short-listed after initial scrutiny of their applications. They are called to the New Delhi base of the British Council in February for an interview. The results are declared early in April. The application should include the documents mentioned above. 

Important Dates

The long-term applications for 2022-23 are already closed. Interviews for short-listing applicants are usually held in February after the selection of candidates based on their application information. The results of the same are announced early in April. 

Selection 

Applications are scrutinized, and candidates are shortlisted before they are called to the British Council office in New Delhi for interviews in February. The results are declared in April.
