The GMAT scores can decide a student's future getting admission to an international university. The GMAT results are a gateway to management programs at leading global business schools.

GMAT Result Dates

GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), the body organizing the entrance test, is responsible for announcing the GMAT result and score. The GMAT result dates are not fixed, and aspirants can view the scores by logging into their accounts. The results can be accessed around 20 days from the examination date and the percentile/scores are mentioned on the scorecard. Aspirants should carefully check all information and notify the authorities if they encounter discrepancies. The GMAT cut-off marks for various chosen institutions should also be checked carefully. 

How to check GMAT Results? 

The GMAT result and score can be viewed by aspirants online, and the examination can be attempted five times a year. Students can check their official scores 21 days after the examination, and they are valid for five years from the exam date. If an aspirant is dissatisfied with their scores, they may reappear for the test. 

GMAC sends email alerts about the availability of official scores. The emails also contain all instructions for accessing the scores online. The students can also receive the results via post while registering for the GMAT. The score reports can be categorized into scores obtained within three weeks from the test, unofficial/official score reports, and enhanced scores.

How is the GMAT Exam Scored

GMAT Total Score200-800Scores are based on calculated performance before attempting Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning section. Scores are reported in intervals of 10. The standard error measurement is 30-40 points.

Average GMAT Scores

The minimum and the maximum score for GMAT is 200 and 800, respectively. As per the official date of GMAC, two-thirds of the test takers score between 400 and 600. The average GMAT scores for all test-takers basis three years (2018-2020) are as follows:

More Information About GMAT Scores

Scores for 4 out of 5 sections, i.e., Integrated Reasoning, Verbal, Total Scores, and Quantitative are displayed immediately after the test. Candidates get two minutes to cancel or accept the scores, after which they are canceled automatically. In case of acceptance, candidates can get a printout of the scores displayed. The scores can also be canceled within 72 hours from the examination for a cancellation fee. 

The official score report also contains AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) scores and previous GMAT scores and percentile rankings. Students can choose up to five schools for sending the official score reports during registration. More schools can be added to the list by paying a fee.

The official reports containing a digital photograph and the test essays are issued only on special request. They may also purchase the enhanced score report which has details about the type of questions, focus areas, and other actionable insights.

A good GMAT score depends on the college and course a candidate chooses. However, a score of 700+ is considered a good exam score to secure a seat at a prestigious business school. A score of 500+ is regarded as an average score, and a score of 740+ is known as an excellent GMAT score. If a candidate scores less than 700 , they are eligible to reappear in GMAT exam to score better.

How long are GMAT scores valid?

The GMAT scores are good for five years. A candidate can report the score for up to 10 years. Scores older than ten years are not accepted.

How to score 700 in GMAT?

Scoring 700 in GMAT is not unachievable. A candidate needs to practice and study hard to score well in GMAT. Here are some tips for GMAT preparations to score well in the exam:

  1. Attend GMAT strategy sessions and decide your GMAT score target in advance.
  2. Take a diagnostic test and see your performance and skills
  3. Focus on your section-wise scores.
  4. Keep an error log and try to improve it with each attempt.

How to get GMAT Test Score Report?

You can get your score report after 20 days of the examination. After your scores are assessed, you will receive an email from Pearson VUE sharing your scores. You can download or print your scorecard by visiting your account on the official GMAT website.

How to cancel GMAT score?

After appearing for the GMAT exam and at the time of GMAT exam declaration, a candidate has only two minutes to accept or reject the GMAT score. If no action is taken within this time, the scores are automatically canceled. The candidates who receive the scores at test centers can cancel them online within 72 hours after the completion of their GMAT exam.

What is the minimum score in GMAT?
