how many times gmat exam is conducted in a year

Do you know how many times the GMAT exam is conducted in a year? The GMAT examination is conducted multiple times a year. There is no single date in the year when you can appear. It is easy to take the test right from your home throughout the week and 24 hours a day.

However, a student can only appear five times for the test in an annual year and not more than eight times in the entire lifetime. It can be said the GMAT exam can be taken once every 16 days on the calendar.

How to Register for GMAT Exam

It is to be remembered that the GMAT Focus Edition is the only accepted version of the exam from February 1, 2024. The prospective test takers will only have the option to sit for the Focus Edition as the previous traditional GMAT exam retires. Here is a step-by-step guide to register for the GMAT Focus Edition:

  • Sign up on the official website of mba.com. When you open the website, you will find 'sign up' just on the top right corner of the website. Click the option.
  • The registration process for GMAT will immediately start. Fill up the registration form with all the required personal information, educational information, and optional information.
  • Verify your profile with your registered contact number and email ID.
  • Login to your account.
  • Choose the appropriate date and time slot according to your convenience. Make sure you choose the right date and slot because rescheduling or canceling will be charged.
  • Pay the registration fee of the GMAT examination using the preferred mode of payment. You can use a debit card, credit card, or net banking options to pay the registration fee online.

What is GMAT Focus Edition Fee

The registration fee for the GMAT examination is $250 for most countries. For India, it is $275 (INR 22,800) for an exam delivered at an exam center and $300 (INR 24,900) for an online exam. Since it is an expensive examination, students are recommended to prepare themselves and take the test sincerely to avoid multiple attempts.

The Graduate Management Admission Council or GMAC (conducting body of GMAT) also offers registration fee waivers for economically backward students. However, you cannot apply for the waiver directly instead, your undergrad institution/business school will have to request it on your behalf, and after getting the request approved by GMAC, the school will make the selection of the candidates who are eligible for the fee waiver. The school is allowed to apply for a maximum of 10 fee waivers within a 12-month period.
