The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized English language proficiency test for non-native speakers. Educational institutions and employers accept it globally to assess the English language skills of students and employees. IELTS test takers receive a TRF after participating in the exam. So, what is TRF in IELTS?
TRF stands for Test Report Form. It is the copy of a candidate’s IELTS result and is, in a way, a mark sheet. A TRF carries the IELTS bands scored in the reading, writing, speaking, and listening sections of the test. It is valid for two years and is shared with educational institutions and employers in English-speaking countries to check the English skills of candidates.
The IELTS exam is conducted both online and offline. Candidates who have appeared for the IELTS test on paper get their TRFs on the 13th day after the test. Computer-based test candidates get their TRFs in three to five days from the test. Students can collect the TRF from IDP IELTS offices after producing the identity proof they used for registration.
Test-takers generally receive one copy of TRF and can avail two copies for Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) or the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA). You can also verify the TRF by using the online verification service of the IELTS. You’ll need the ‘Test Report Form (TRF) Number.’ So, what is the TRF number in IELTS, and how to find it? It is a 15–18 digit number mentioned in the bottom right-hand corner of the TRF page.
