A passport is required to appear for the IELTS examination if the student is appearing for the examination in their own home country of which they are citizens. Although, a passport is not required for students appearing for IELTS outside of their home country. At the time of registration, test takers should provide proof of identity (passport or National Identity Card). The test center should be contacted to clarify which type of identification is acceptable. Test takers who are taking the exam outside of their home country must have a passport.

How to Register for IELTS Examination

Test takers can register online and pay the exam fee with a credit card.

You must have a valid credit card on hand to use the online booking service.

Procedure

  • Visit www.ieltsidpindia.com.
  • Select the "Register for IELTS" option.
  • Choose your test date and location (you will see the seat availability status).
  • Fill out the online application form.
  • Pay the test fee.
  • Receive immediate seat reservations and confirmation.

What are the Requirements of the IELTS Examination (From Applying to Examination Centre)

  • At registration, bring identification (National Identity Card). A passport is required for IELTS.
  • Any changes to your identity document must be reported to the testing center prior to the test date.
  • On the day of the test, bring the same proof of identity listed in your application.
  • Arrive at the test center at least 15 minutes before the scheduled test time.
  • Consent to verify your identity during test registration and on test day. This could include having your picture taken. The test center's photograph will appear on your Test Report Form, as well as providing a sample of your signature and needing your finger scanned.
  • Attend all four sections of the examination (listening, reading, writing or speaking). If you do not undertake all four sections, you will not receive the result. Exceptions are possible but must be requested at the time of registration and must be approved in writing by the test center.

IELTS Test Result

Centers typically issue results 13 days after the test for paper-based IELTS and 3–5 days for computer-delivered IELTS.
