The University of South Wales (USW) is an acclaimed public institution at Pontypridd in the UK. It has several other campuses, ranking 1001-1200 (2022) in THE world rankings list. The University was founded in 2013 after a merger between the University of Wales at Newport and the University of Glamorgan. The institution has its roots going back by a whopping 180 years. 

In April 2013, the merger took place to form the new university. The institution has offered 500+ courses since its formation, catering to students across 120+ countries. Some of the accreditations at USW include RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) certification. 

The University has its campuses in Cardiff, Pontypridd, Glyntaff in Pontypridd, and Newport. There is a Sports Park at Pontypridd as well. Some top research centers include the Wireless and Optoelectronics Research and Innovation Center, SERC, CSAIP, European Centre for Documentary Research, Center for Social Policy, Genomics Policy Research Group, and many others. 

There are undergraduate and postgraduate programs available for students. Some top disciplines include built environment, biological sciences, accounting and finance, clinical and pharmaceutical sciences, design, data science, engineering, education, health sciences, law, nursing, and natural history. 

Some famous alumni at the institution include the 6th President at Qatar University, Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham; CEO of the American Association of Independent Music, Richard James Burgess; politician Rt Hon Alun Cairns MP; filmmaker Asif Kapadia; author and great-granddaughter to Charles Darwin Emma Darwin;  and iconic global athlete Nigel Walker OBE.
