About the University

A number of modest art schools that were founded in the nineteenth century in the English counties of Surrey and Kent were responsible for the establishment of the University for the Creative Arts. The first of these was established in Kent in 1867 at Maidstone College of Art, and in Surrey in 1856 at Guildford School of Art. Many of these tiny art schools combined during the second part of the 20th century, resulting in the establishment of Surrey Institute of Art & Design in 1995 and Kent Institute of Art & Design in 1987. In order to form the University College for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester, these two entities merged in 2005. In 2008, it officially came to be known as University for Creative Arts (UCA).

The notable alumni are Zandra Rhodes and Tracey Emin.

With a 77% acceptance rate, University for the Creative Arts has a moderate level of selectivity. The university grades the students according to their academic records, personal statements, and artistic portfolios.

Students will get an email from the university as soon as their application is submitted with confirmation. The UCAS website will give UG applicants all the information they need to know about acceptance.
