Admissions to the University at Albany (SUNY) are competitive, with a 68% acceptance rate and an 89.2% early acceptance rate. The university is more lenient than other colleges but still expects students to satisfy the GPA and SAT/ACT criteria. 

Admission eligibility criteria

Some of the common eligibility criteria include the following: 

  • SAT scores of 1090-1280 or ACT scores of 22-29. 
  • Previous academic degrees with proof of marks. 
  • IELTS/TOEFL scores. 
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (overall) 

Before enrollment in a UAlbany graduate programme, students must have finished a degree programme comparable to a USA Bachelor's degree in order to be eligible for admission.

  • By the completion of the first semester of the programme, UAlbany must obtain certified documentation of your previous degree.

How the university evaluates applicants

WES evaluations given directly to UAlbany are accepted, although they are not mandatory. The assessment board can accurately compare your institution, courses, and grades with all other applicants with a transcript examination. The university may also seek coursework and other documents from your educational institution in some cases. 

Tips for applying to the university

  • By presenting a financial affidavit and financial papers, international students attending UAlbany on an F1 student visa must demonstrate their ability to cover all costs associated with their attendance.
  • Try filling out the Foreign Transfer Form in case you are an international candidate moving from some other American university or college and email it to Soha Acosta, "director of graduate recruitment and marketing," at szacosta@albany.edu.

Application deadline

The University at Albany-SUNY also takes into account late registration, which is an option for students after the first day of school. However, it comes with a late registration charge for all those registering after the deadline of March 1 for the year.
