The BA in business with a concentration in law is an innovative, transdisciplinary program intended to prepare students for positions in a variety of professions in which business and law play an important role in ensuring success.

The law concentration, with its strong business background, gives students a systematic framework for analyzing real-world legal regulation and corresponding business risks and liabilities. Students in this program complete rigorous courses within the law concentration in addition to the skill and core courses required of all W. P. Carey School of Business majors.

The Accelerated BA to Law JD Program is a unique opportunity for undergraduate Law students to accelerate their course of study by completing their Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor in just six years of full-time study, saving students a full year of time and tuition.

The changing market for legal services has led to a proliferation of new law-related career possibilities. The Law BA is intended to prepare students for careers that do not require a licensed attorney, but where a sound understanding of the law is valuable. For example, compliance specialists work in corporations of all kinds to ensure that organizations comply with the laws of intellectual property and privacy, and human resources managers need to understand employment law and benefits rules. 

At the same time, the practice of law continues to become more and more complex. Whole new careers have developed to support the work lawyers do; many of these careers do not require a licensed lawyer, but do require some understanding of law along with other technical skills. E-discovery and litigation support professionals apply technical expertise to manage the massive volume of electronically stored evidence required in all kinds of litigation. Trial and jury consultants combine such technical expertise with a practical knowledge of psychology and sociology to help lawyers communicate complex concepts to juries.

Law and society is a sociology major emphasizing concepts, theories, and research methods as applied to the study of law and law-related structures and processes. Coursework encompasses a variety of areas including deviant behavior, juvenile delinquency, the role of law in society, family law, and the sociology of police. These areas of study are intertwined with other crucial sociological concerns such inequality, power, social organization, social psychology, social change, race, gender, culture, and communication.

The law enforcement program is designed for individuals seeking a professional career as a peace officer. Students are prepared to serve multicultural and diverse populations at the individual, local, state, federal, and global levels. The program is also open to in-service professionals who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree. This program aligns with the MinnState Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement Transfer Pathway.

The criminal justice- criminal justice administration major is open only to students currently enrolled in the program. Enrollment is closed to all new students and all transfer students. The concentration in criminal justice administration prepares students for the work that goes on behind the scenes in a criminal justice organization. Managing the operations of a police organization requires a unique ability to understand the needs of the community being served, as well as the components of the organization. These courses enable graduates to enter organizations with a broader understanding of the rationale for decision-making within the organization.

With a criminal justice- criminal justice administration degree, graduates can excel as an administrator in municipal, county or state organizations. Other career options include becoming civil service officers, state and federal parole officers, court administrators, federal law enforcement officers or positions in private-sector law enforcement.

You can't develop a business strategy without considering laws, regulations, and the economic impacts of decisions. Our law and economics program combines economic theory and business law, preparing you for the decisions you'll be faced with as a business manager.

As a law and economics major at CMU, you’ll learn to think critically about complicated situations and gauge how others are likely to react.

This unique program is one of just a handful in the United States and the only one in Michigan. Through it, you'll learn to navigate the regulatory environment, predict economic forces and learn to build a business strategy while keeping legal and economic impacts of decisions in mind.

As a student in our College of Business Administration, you'll build a solid foundation in accounting, marketing and other basic concepts. Beyond that, you'll take classes in economic theory that will contribute to your analytical and decision making skills. And courses in business law will introduce you to contracts, property rights and the regulatory environment.

(A variation of this program is also offered outside of the College of Business Administration. Students in that program take fewer required business courses, and have more room to take elective classes.)

If you're dedicated to pursuing a career in the legal profession, you'll be on the right track with YSU's very active, successful Pre-Law advisement. Our students have been accepted to the law school programs at Harvard, Duke, Georgetown, the University of Michigan, Case Western Reserve and Ohio State. More than two-thirds of law school applicants from YSU are accepted into at least one law school program.

You'll receive individual advisement at the beginning of your academic career to learn about the various field of legal practice, and in your junior year, you'll receive guidance while arranging for law school entrance exams and interviews.

Students who are committed to pursuing a law degree upon graduating from YSU are eligible to apply for the Judge Sidney Rigelhaupt and Bert Rigelhaupt Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded annually and cover full tuition.

Analytical skills and techniques are critical to solving the world's toughest problems. In order to solve conflict we must first understand it. Critical thinking and research skills are the focus of our Bachelor of Science program and are in demand by employers of all sectors. Students pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution develop research skills and have the opportunity to gain experience designing surveys, conducting interviews, analyzing statistics, and organizing data.

The department of history at Missouri State University excels in undergraduate teaching. Students wishing to obtain an undergraduate degree in history may choose between the Bachelor of Arts (BA), and the Bachelor of Science (BS) programs. The department also offers a minor degree option. In addition, undergraduate students that meet the academic requirements may also enroll in the department's accelerated master's degree program.

Politics, Policy and International Relations offers courses in American, comparative and international politics taught by skilled faculty with diverse ideas, teaching methods, and philosophies who are dedicated to quality teaching. Our courses critically analyze American and global political phenomena and how these phenomena affect our daily lives. Our classes feature active learning including Model United Nations; moot court and congressional hearing simulations; debates; internships; and service-learning. Through hands-on learning and internship opportunities, the politics, policy and international relations department at Salem State prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the field.

American politics examines the US political system, public policy process and political actors and issues at the local, state and national levels. Through contemporary and historical lenses, American politics courses explore the powers, functions and behavior of the Congress, presidency, the courts and state and local government. 

At the heart of the Law, Technology and Culture program is a dynamic, interdisciplinary core curriculum of 21 credits of law-related coursework in history, philosophy, social science, engineering, information technology, management, and science, technology and society. Special features of the program’s curriculum allow students to focus on their interests in law in relation to technology, media, environment, health, and culture.

We expect that, as a student and/or graduate of the Law, Technology and Culture B.A. program, you will meet the following:

• Academic Excellence: Students will excel in 21 required law and technology credits, 18 credits of law-related electives, a 3-credit internship in law and a 3-credit senior seminar in which they prepare a major paper in law, technology and culture.
• Student-Faculty Collaboration: Students will benefit from personal guidance from distinguished faculty in crafting an individualized course of study. They have the opportunity to do independent legal research under the supervision of faculty.
• Career Development: Students will plan for a legal career and/or apply for an advanced degree program.

The pre-law concentration at McNeese prepares students who want to continue their education at law school a solid foundation in the judicial process, political philosophy, constitutional interpretation, and more.

The Law Enforcement Leadership program blends the disciplines of criminal justice, law enforcement and management. It provides the foundation to allow graduates to seek entry positions in law enforcement or to seek promotion into supervisory and management positions. Most graduates of this program will seek employment with law enforcement agencies, other governmental agencies or in the private sector. Since the program provides ample opportunities for electives, students may choose electives that may help them to develop or hone management skills, or acquire knowledge and skill in law enforcement techniques.

Mount Mary University's pre-law advising can guide you down the road toward a successful legal career and prepare you to apply to and enroll in law school. At Mount Mary (or at any college) pre-law is not a major—it involves taking a challenging curriculum and developing your reading, writing, speaking, critical thinking and logical thinking skills.

The conflict analysis and dispute resolution major is housed in the Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution Department. The curriculum requirements for the conflict analysis and dispute resolution major are designed to provide a sound pre-professional training ground for undergraduate students who intend to pursue professional conflict intervention positions or to continue in a higher education setting. The major is designed to provide specialized pre-professional training with its emphasis on analytical and practical skills. While remaining anchored in a liberal arts tradition and strongly rooted in the social sciences, the program is designed to easily allow students to study in other fields outside the major in order to enrich these skills and these traditions. Faculty work with students individually to develop strong analytical and practical skills. Students are also guided in the development of a work ethic appropriate to professional conflict resolution practitioners.

St. Thomas is one of few schools in the country that offers a degree in Law and Compliance. After completing our core business curriculum, you’ll take concentration courses that provide a solid foundation in laws crucial to businesses, including contract, intellectual property, corporations and employment law.

You’ll gain a critical framework for analyzing the legal implications of business decisions, the business implications of legal decisions, and the ethical impact of both. Our faculty members have extensive legal experience, and if you’re considering law school, earning this degree is a great way to test your interest in the field. However, this is not a pre-law program. As a student here, you’ll work one-on-one with an advisor—an ethics and legal studies faculty member—who will help guide and support your studies.

The purpose of a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice is to prepare students to deal with the challenges of a career as a criminal justice professional in a changing society. The criminal justice program will instill in students a comprehensive knowledge of the criminal justice system while educating them to be critical thinkers who can communicate their thoughts effectively in oral and written form. The curriculum will familiarize students with facts and concepts while also teaching them to engage in ethical behavior when applying this knowledge to related problems and changing situations. Graduates from this program will be members of professional organizations dedicated to selfless public service and will be vital in maintaining peace and curtailing lawlessness in our society. Criminal justice graduates find gainful employment in law enforcement, security, the courts, and correctional facilities. Graduates with a degree in criminal justice may find employment in juvenile and adult probation, municipal and county law enforcement, private security, hospital security, investigations, and warrant offices.
