The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accredits McNeese State University for awarding baccalaureate, associate, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as undergraduate, graduate, post-master’s and post-baccalaureate degrees. Some of the degree programs of this university have been further accredited by AACSB International, ABAI, ACS, ACEND, CAC, CACREP, CAEP, CCNE, EAC, JRCERT, NAACLS, NASAD, and NASM. The total undergraduate enrollment of the university was 5882 as of Fall 2021, with a gender distribution of 61% female students and 39% male students. The student to instructor ratio of the university is 21:1. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The campus of McNeese State University includes nine academic buildings and several other buildings where labs, classes and instructional activities are scheduled. The instructional facilities of the university include some general use classrooms which can be used or shared by all the disciplines of the university, as well as specialised rooms like computer labs, theatres designed for special fields, music studios and science and computer labs. There are seven special halls in the main campus of the university which are used for specialised courses and colleges and these are Drew Hall, Frasch Hall, Farrar Hall, Hardtner Hall, Gayle Hall, Kirkman Hall and Kaufman Hall. The Burton Business Centre is used by the College of Business and Shearman Fine Arts Centre is used by the College of Liberal Arts.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

First-time Freshman

  • The applicant must have completed the TOPS or University High School Core Curriculum.
  • The applicant must have at least an overall high school GPA of 2.35. 
  • The applicant must have readiness for college-level English.
  • The applicant must have readiness for college-level Mathematics. 
  • The applicant either requires a high school GPA of at least 2.0, or a minimum ACT composite score of 20 or a total SAT score of 1030. 

Graduate applicants

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an institution which is regionally accredited or its foreign equivalent. 
  • The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 on the attempted undergraduate works. 
  • The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 on the attempted upper-division courses.

  • Official test scores of SAT or ACT
  • Official transcript of all previously attempted course works
