Founded in 1851, the University of Minnesota is a public land-grant research university. It is formally known as the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMN). The university is located in two major cities; Minneapolis and St. Paul. Together, the cities are widely known as Twin Cities and are famous for their participation in sports, determination to keep their surroundings immaculate, and volunteerism.
