The University of Montreal fees are comparatively lower than many other institutions in North America. The per-credit cost for international undergraduate students, for instance, is $622.06 or INR 46,692 for geography, humanities and social sciences, education and physical education, etc. $694.82 or INR 52,153 for paramedic, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, nursing, agriculture, architecture, cinema and photography, etc. $820.26 is the per credit charge for subjects like pure sciences, administration and law, mathematics and engineering and computer science. This works out to roughly INR 61,568 per credit. Graduate courses have varying fees as well. 

Required Exams at University of Montreal

There are several examinations required as part of the University of Montreal requirements. Proper knowledge of French is a must for University of Montreal admissions. There is an intensive French program for those meeting level 6 of the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français des personnes immigrantes adultes or level B1 of the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Candidates should provide proof of B1 level French proficiency. 

Students should have got any of the following: 

  • B1 level on the TEF Express online test. 
  • 345-600/990 on TFI or B1 level in reading comprehension and listening. 
  • B1 on the “Accès au programme de francisation” test online offered by the university itself. 
  • Some programs require IELTS scores and the minimum threshold is 6.5. 

Admission Requirements at University of Montreal

Here are some of the admission requirements to keep in mind: 

  • French language proficiency proof. 
  • Students who do not have French as their first language can go through the university’s support programs. 
  • International students in Quebec should get their Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and study permit. Some students are required to get visitor visas from the Canadian Government. 
  • The French options provided by the institution include the Intensif University French Program, workshops, language exchange, self-study, credit courses, and individual tutoring. 
  • You can also request to write your dissertation in English upon admission. 
  • Admission to any graduate program requires a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent course. 
  • The minimum GPA should be 3.0 on a scale of 4.3 points. 
  • Adhere to all individual eligibility guidelines. 
  • Candidates should provide results of diploma/tests for undergraduate study programs with attestation. The French knowledge level may be higher than B2 in this case. 
  • For some programs, the minimum IELTS score requirement is 6.5.
