The MPhil in Politics (Political Theory) is an advanced two-year postgraduate degree, which provides training in research techniques and methodology and enables you to acquire substantive knowledge in this sub-area of the discipline. MSc Russian and Eurasian Politics and Economics - the flagship degree programme of the King's Russia Institute - equips students with the tools and perspectives needed to understand the processes of political, economic and social change that are continuing to reshape Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Taught by leading researchers and bringing a range of policy professionals directly into the classroom, the programme allows students to choose to focus on particular areas of academic or professional interest, such as: Eurasian Political Economy & Energy, focusing on political and economic analysis of the extraction, production, and export of energy in Eurasia. This innovative combined programme enables you to complement the study of economics with a structured menu of pathways in environmental studies offered by departments across the University.

At the beginning of your studies you choose from pathways in ecological science, geography, sustainable development or general environmental courses. You then follow this choice of environmental pathway for the remainder of your programme.

As well as providing a valuable background for a variety of resource management careers, this joint programme provides a broad treatment of pressing issues that are of local, national and global importance.

Warwick's Political and Legal Theory MA questions how normative analysis might be applied to address matters of public concern. You will acquire knowledge and understanding to central normative conceptions and their implications to public policy, institutional design and the law.

This is a degree offered in collaboration with other departments in the Faculty of Social Sciences. It is designed to provide a strong all round training in research methods allied to further specialisation within the fields of politics, international relations and security for those intending to go on to register for a PhD. As such it implements the ESRC research training guidelines for '1+3' PhD students, and includes compulsory elements in a wide variety of techniques including statistics and quantitative methods, but contains less subject-specific content than the other MA courses.

They have long been recognised as overlapping and informing one other and it was only relatively recently in intellectual history that the three subjects were separated from one another. Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) brings together these subjects to help you understand and engage with the world. You will develop essential skills of reasoning, inquiry and analysis that are applicable to a wide range of careers, including banking and finance, law, academia and teaching, journalism and politics.

In addition to the core module of Major Approaches to the Study of International Relations you will choose two optional modules from the range available in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion.

The MA in War and Society is a truly unique course exploring seismic events that sparked violent change throughout the course of human history.

You will attempt to investigate what war means, and discover a meaningful definition. Analysed through multiple contexts including the political, social, cultural, technological, historical, military and media, you will learn how messages can be distorted in subtle and sophisticated ways.

This is a collaborative, interdisciplinary MA Degree programme that is harnessed by the breadth of research expertise in the School of Culture and Communication.

This degree will provide you with a comprehensive analysis of contemporary international relations. By taking this course you will have the opportunity to study a range of international issues, and to investigate whether international relations in the post-Cold War period have been founded upon a Western model of 'World Order'.

The course will introduce you to differing concepts of order in the post-Cold War world. It will enable you to think critically about the nature of international relations: about the extent to which Western interests, institutions and culture dominate the world system and the challenges and responses generated by that dominance. The course focuses on both theoretical and empirical approaches to this subject.

You will complete one core module which will critically examine the means by which the West maintains its concept of 'Order' and non-Western responses to it. You can then choose three option modules, which, along with your dissertation, allow you to specialise in areas that interest you or complement your professional goals.

As well as equipping you with a detailed understanding of contemporary international relations this degree will develop your ability to think both analytically and critically and to produce reasoned arguments encompassing your increased knowledge and understanding of the issues. It will also develop your practical transferable skills, including the ability to conduct independent research, verbal and written communication, and presenting and planning.
