The Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate allows students who already have a Master’s of Science in Nursing to be certified as nurse practitioners for individuals and families. The post-master’s certificate will prepare you for advanced practice nursing in home health agencies, physicians’ offices, health maintenance organizations, family health centers, and clinics in both urban and rural communities.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to be certified as family/individual nurse practitioners across the life span.

As a certified nurse practitioner, you’ll diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illness, working with a physician and as part of a health care team. Nurse practitioners may order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and X-rays and may prescribe medication.

Exceptional residents often pursue scholarly activities in addition to fulfilling their other residency requirements. This program is designed for those residents who publish research and pursue scholarly activities in addition to their typical residency training, and who desire to pursue careers in clinical education in their field of interest.

Students pursuing an MS in Academic Medicine must designate a concentration. At this time the first available concentration is the field of otolaryngology.

The MS in Academic Medicine is designed to address topics of value to the academic physician, including training in leadership, education, ethics, professionalism, public health, health accreditation, statistics, bioepidemiology, research techniques, medical writing and editing, grant writing, research regulations, public speaking and academic health center management. These are topics typically important to educators, but not commonly covered in depth during residency training.

Molecular medicine is a research-intensive track within the graduate biomedical sciences program in the College of Medicine and Life Sciences at The University of Toledo.  

The molecular medicine (MOME) program employs a unique interdisciplinary approach. Since we are located on UToledo’s Health Science Campus, we draw faculty members not only from the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, but also from the departments of medicine and orthopedics. 

The Master of Family Therapy Degree is offered by our Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Program. Our CFT Program is a unique collaborative effort between two highly-respected institutions: Thomas Jefferson University and Council for Relationships. This is a full-time, two-year, 66-credit program, which is modeled on the core curriculum developed by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), focusing on key areas of contemporary practice, including:

• Couple and marital counseling
• Family therapy with children
• Families in transition (divorce and remarriage)
• Family violence
• Medical family therapy
• Sex therapy

The curriculum reflects a bio-psychosocial approach to understanding human behavior, viewing the behavior of individuals, couples, families and larger systems as the result of an interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors. It also reflects a commitment to training therapists to be aware of and sensitive to issues of cultural diversity and their impact on family functioning and the therapeutic process.

Almost all premedical students complete a bachelor’s degree before attending medical school. Schools of medicine consider many factors for acceptance including a strong GPA, relatively high scores on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), a good amount of medical experience, strong character, and community service or other indication of a desire to serve.

Premedical students may elect any major. Students who choose a non-science major may wish to also complete Harding’s second major in Preprofessional Health Sciences.

The MS in Gerontology is a 48-unit program which emphasizes a multidisciplinary biopsychosocial-spiritual study of aging and aging processes. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills required to enhance and support the lives of older adults and their families in the community and geriatric practice settings.
