The Master of Business Administration degree program with a concentration in Operations and Supply Chain Management allows graduate students to recommend and command business decisions as they relate to continuous process improvement and strategic management. Emphasis is on quality control, process improvement, procurement and profit maximization. The program is developed and updated in collaboration with students and successful industry leaders, enabling our diverse student body to advance in their professional careers by attaining business competencies as well as leadership, strategic and creative thinking skills in the ever-changing global business environment.

The program allows graduate students to delve deeper into the realms of logistics, operations management, strategic sourcing and other aspects of business operations. Companies are looking to improve processes and streamline services in order to remain competitive in the evolving business landscape. The curriculum is informed by the Lean certification body of knowledge and allows students a pathway to pursue industry-relevant certification.

This program seeks to train students in the basic techniques and theory of operations research and their applications to real-world problems. Graduates should have developed their analytical skills to attack complex, large-scale optimization problems of both a deterministic and stochastic nature.

Eight 4-semester-hour graduate courses are required for this degree. Previous course work will be evaluated to determine proficiency in certain content areas, and degree plan may be tailored accordingly. In some cases, a student may be required to take an assessment exam to determine content and knowledge proficiency. No course can be used to satisfy both a requirement and an elective. To qualify for degree conferral, a minimum cumulative average of 3.000, equivalent to a grade of B, must be obtained. Some courses listed for this program are offered in the College of Engineering or the College of Computer and Information Science.

Supply chain management is key to an organization’s strategic objectives, and the master’s program teaches advanced knowledge of product development, sourcing, production, resource management and logistics.

The program offers both on-campus and online degree formats allowing students to attend and participate in classes in person, online, or both. This flexible format is tailored to meet the needs of both traditional full-time students and working professionals in the achievement of a student’s unique professional goals. The program is well recognized by industry professionals as a “go to” program for advanced supply chain skills as it has the seal of approval from leading professional supply chain organizations such as Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

The Supply Chain Management program enables students with the ability to pursue a wide variety of careers in corporate, industrial and governmental sectors. Students completing the degree are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities facing supply chain professionals today and tomorrow.

The MS program in Sustainable Transportation and Logistics, is a 30‐credit, full‐time, three-semester program. The curriculum consists of five courses that are designed to provide a common platform of relevant engineering principles and practices, coupled with managerial concepts and practices. The program is designed to provide ample opportunities for learning state-of-the-art knowledge and industry best-practices, validated with industry interactions.

Robinson's M.S. in Supply Chain Management is designed to equip students with advanced analytical and managerial skills needed to drive performance and effect positive change in today’s complex supply chains. Special emphasis is placed on the role of coordination and synchronization across all members of the supply chain to collectively create value for customers in the most efficient way possible. Students will put their new knowledge into action through a hands-on project addressing a pressing, real-world supply chain challenge.

The SCM Certificate is also well-suited for someone interested in graduate business education but is unsure of making a commitment to complete the full 33 semester hour Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program. The Supply Chain Management Certificate can be completed online or through face-to-face courses at the Macomb or Quad Cities campuses.

Supply chain management is defined as “the process of the integration and coordination of the business processes throughout the supply for the purpose of satisfying the ultimate customers of the supply chain.” Supply chain management strategies began to emerge in the early 1980s. Walmart and Dell offer examples of successful early adopters of supply chain management strategies: Most business organizations have adopted some form of supply chain management strategy since that time. It is the goal of the MBA/SCM emphasis to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to support organizational efforts to successfully implement supply chain management strategies. Students will be exposed to new knowledge in the following areas: supply chain management strategy, enterprise resource planning systems, RFID technology applications, environmentally sustainable supply chain practices, supply chain cybersecurity, and project management.

In the AACSB-accredited M.B.A. with an Operations & Supply Chain Management concentration, you’ll gain professional experience working with companies located in New York City—the world capital of finance and business.

Upon completion of our M.B.A. program, you’ll be able to:

The Master of Maritime Trade and Supply Chain Management is a graduate program that provides managers and supply chain professionals the opportunity to expand their knowledge, update their skill sets, and enhance their work with supply chain partners, transportation carriers, shippers, sourcing agents, warehouse managers, as well as third parties and governments directly or indirectly involved in the movement of cargo and material flow. This master program educates professionals from the corporate and military sectors to advance their careers. The 30-credit hour curriculum requires critical thinking and investigation in maritime and supply chain industries, including analyses of worldwide port networks and supply chains that contribute to enhanced productivity.

Operations research analysts work with an organization to help improve its overall business operations. They create mathematical models to examine data that helps a business improve its efficiency, asset management, policies, and operational decision-making.

Florida Tech’s master’s in operations research degree is one of the few in the nation. With a strong emphasis on mathematics and stochastic theory, this interdisciplinary field overlaps mathematics with other disciplines such as industrial design and operations management. Students tailor their degree to their particular interests and career path.

In addition to the master’s in operations research, Florida Tech also offers a doctoral program in the field.

Since its inception, the concept of operations research has been widely applied by industry and government in making decisions about the use of resources and in solving problems involving complex design, allocation, planning, and logistics. Graduate students interested in a master’s in operations research are trained to use mathematical computer modeling, simulation tests, and optimization to forecast the implications of various business management choices and identify the best possible alternatives.

To be eligible for admission an applicant will be required to present the following:

1. A 250-500 word essay discussing your goals and objectives for pursuing admission to the degree program to which you are applying
2. Official transcripts from all previous colleges attended or official NACES course-by-course evaluation of any foreign transcripts
3. Two (2) letters of recommendation
4. Professional résumé or CV
5. Official documentation of English Language Proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) or waiver if applicable

Graduate students apply to NJCU on a rolling basis with six possible starts each calendar year.

Candidates may apply for and be accepted into the University. Those intending to enter the MBA program in the School of Business will need to successfully complete pre-requisite courses or BUSI 599 Graduate Business Essentials.

Candidates must have and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 out of 4 to remain in a graduate business degree program.

The Supply Chain and Operations Management concentration provides students with a global perspective. Students will understand the complexity and interdependence of functions within an organization as well as organizations within a supply network. Students will gain an understanding of continuous improvement for increasing quality levels, decreasing costs, and reducing risks within an organization. A student that completes this certificate will be a more effective manager, a systems-thinker, and a problem solver.

There are tremendous opportunities for the effective application of these tools, techniques, and methods in a wide range of business operations including service operations, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, logistics, supply chain management, revenue management, quality management, finance, human resources, information systems, marketing, and strategic planning. Operations management can be effectively applied to virtually every component of an organization. The OM master's degree program features two curriculum options, operations management and operations management with the decision analytics track.
