JSU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. They offer alumni the bachelor’s, master’s, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, education specialist and Doctor of Public Health degrees. American Chemical Society, American Philosophical Association, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and mass communication are also the accrediting partners. Council on Rehabilitation Education, National Association of Industrial Technology, National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration also provide the accreditations. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The in-state tuition and fees are $ 8,445 and out -of-state tuition fees are $ 9,445. The campus of JSU is 200 plus acres of nice and beautiful landscape and the people with the best of southern hospitality. The campus of JSU includes more than 130 clubs, academic and social activities, student leadership programme, job counselling and study abroad programme and so on. The university has clubs and organisations which are active in many activities such as community service, promoting leadership developments and many more. At JSU there are more than 130 active student organisations. In JSU there are many facilities and courses are found for the students such as departments of facilities and construction management,civil and environmental engineering and many more. JSU has organised many labs for various subjects like IT, civil and environmental engineering, electron microscope lab, political science lab and so on. This university has over 9 thousand students with world class faculty and staff. This is the fourth largest university of higher learning in Mississippi.  This university is designated as a high research activity institution and provides the nurturing and caring environment in which students can improve themselves to their utmost.

Streams, Number of Courses and Other Offerings

This university provides many courses such as undergraduate, post graduate courses and many online courses organised by the University. There are over 87 undergraduate programmes with BBA and Accounting to Bachelors of Music in jazz are taught in this university. There are 5 colleges within the JSU, the college of business, health and science, liberal arts, education and human development, engineering and technology. JSU also provides 13 post graduate degree programs which range from MA, MAT, MBA and Phd. This university also offers scholarships on various subjects and has placement opportunities. JSU offers online courses where students can avail the distance learning, traditional learning and nontraditional learning.

Jackson State University Acceptance Rate

The admission process of the JSU is selective and it maintains the acceptance rate of 62%. The SAT or ACT score must be needed to get admission in this university.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate 

The applicants for undergraduate courses should have an ACT score of 16 or higher or combined scholastic aptitude test score of 790 or higher. The high school academic record should be average or high and the applicants must have aged 18 or above. The students should have language proficiency and the knowledge of elementary maths.

Postgraduate

The applicants for the post-graduation course must have a certificate of under graduation course and have the proper SAT or ACT score. 

Documents, Test and Average Score Required

Undergraduate 

The applicants should provide the following documents for undergraduate programme:

• High school leaving certificate with academic records.
• The proof of English proficiency for the international students must be needed for the admission. 

Postgraduate

• TOEFL IBT 69 or TOEFL CBT 194 or TOEFL PBT 525 are the required scores.
• Certificates of undergraduate course.
• Optional tests in special cases.
