This course has been specifically designed for those wishing build a career in the expansive and creative field of television and film making.

The emphasis of the course is on the creation of new work from early ideas to production. You will learn though practice and engage with programme design, concept and ideas development, film making, Studio production and Broadcast television. You will experience contemporary film and television within a wider media context including the artistic and ethical considerations faced as a programme and film maker.

The course opens up a number of opportunities and the final year is focussed on progression to the next stage of your chosen career pathway. You will have the opportunity to embark on a number of production projects and connect with the industry for example through entering your work for the Royal Television Society Awards, which is a gala event attracting key industry professionals from the world of film and television or, should you prefer, you could progress onto a more academic career path via Masters and PhD in related subject areas.

Professionally accredited by the BJTC (Broadcast Journalism Training Council) this master's degree with a practical focus, designed and delivered by sports broadcast industry professionals to create practitioners of Sport Broadcast and prepare them to be industry ready for employment in sport broadcast journalism and across the sport media industry. The master's degree course has been written in collaboration with sport broadcast journalists from the BBC, ITV, Sky Sports and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.We teach traditional broadcast journalism for the digital, new media age. Emphasis is given to live event production, broadcast journalism and multi-platform digital storytelling.

Screenwriting is a multi-million-pound industry and is the foundation of all film, TV, theatre, and radio production. This screenwriting bachelor degree will help prepare you for a career as a professional scriptwriter. You'll learn a range of scriptwriting disciplines, whilst mirroring industry practices.

You will graduate with a portfolio of work. This portfolio includes a feature length "calling card" script, showcasing your work to agents and producers.

You'll become an all-purpose, media-savvy, and fully experienced broadcaster who fits the bill for everything the competitive television industry needs: from directing, camera and sound operation, to presenting, editing, and writing.

This MA Composition for Film, TV and Games degree gives you professional training in writing and producing commercially viable music for the media industries. The course is 18 months full time and starts in January. 

This course explores specialist compositional techniques, develops your operational understanding of hybrid studio technologies, and gives you advanced productional skills to equip you for a career in industry.

The degree mirrors the industry and emphasises working with ‘real-world’ briefs, meeting deadlines and working in a professional environment with state-of-the-art recording and media technology. You will learn to process critical notes and interpret direction, and to iterate your work and deliver a finished product on time, on budget and on brief.

You will learn to prepare for and run a recording session, discover how to manage music budgets and explore how to navigate the industry as a media composer. You will work collaboratively, building networks with post-graduate directors, screenwriters, editors and producers, and have opportunities to contribute to professional projects.

During the final six months of the programme you will engage with self-directed independent study as you create and produce your major research project. This project is supported through mentoring and staged draft submissions. Your project could be a combination of artefacts, a single large-scale specialist production supported by critical reflective analysis, or a significant and appropriate dissertation piece.
