Penn State stands at 119th rank internationally as per Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022. The ranking assesses the performance of the institutions across the four below areas – research, teaching, international outlook, and knowledge transfer. 

QS World University Rankings 2022 ranks the university at 96th position globally. Here, the evaluation took place across 1,300 institutions. It was also ranked as the 44th best university in the US. 

Center for World University Rankings 2021-22 ranks it in 54th position under the category of the best universities in the world due to the quality of education the students receive here and the research works of the faculty members of the university. 

On the other hand, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, popularly known as ARWU has ranked the university in the range of 101-150 in 2021 under a listing of world-class 1,000 universities.
