The University at Buffalo (UB) was founded in 1846 as a private medical institution in downtown Buffalo. It joined the public State University of New York in 1962 and has since evolved to become the SUNY system’s largest and most comprehensive university. The University at Buffalo, widely known as SUNY’s flagship and centre for professional training and education, was also the first of the state’s two public universities to gain membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities, one of only 59 research-intensive universities in the country to do so.

Admission Requirements for University at Buffalo

University at Buffalo’s requirements may vary based on the selected program. A general admission requirement for graduate and professional students is discussed below:

  1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited/government-recognized college or university, or the equivalent. The majority of these degrees will be four years or longer; UB does recognize some three-year degrees, but not all.
  2. A B or GPA of 3.0 or above in your bachelor’s degree. The International Admissions office at UB will evaluate the GPA from non-US universities.
  3. Scores on standardized tests with the required cutoff (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc.). Test scores are not required for all programs.
  4. Recommendation letters. 

Moreover, international applicants must demonstrate English proficiency and meet the standard academic qualifications for the program to which they are applying.
