The School of Management and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences jointly offer a five-year program leading to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The dual-degree program reduces the usual pattern of a four-year PharmD program and a two-year MBA program, by one year.

Every course in the Master of Business Administration program weaves in themes of corporate and social responsibility. Because the curriculum follows the scholar-practitioner model, you will receive academically rigorous, yet practical, knowledge. The core curriculum covers both the hard and soft skills needed for management and executive roles across industries and organizations.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA), accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, is designed to develop the professional capabilities of managers working in business. The central objective of the curriculum in the School of Business is to enhance quality and innovation in the analysis, interpretation, and use of information for formulating, communicating and implementing managerial decisions in business organizations. The ethical management of resources in a global environment is emphasized through the curriculum. Required courses in quantitative analysis, and decision making will sharpen the ability of students to apply models and skills, and integrate knowledge across disciplinary areas. Students can select a specialization in business analytics, healthcare administration, management information systems, project management, or a general specialization comprised of four elective courses that will fit their specific career objectives.

Masters in Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care & Bioethics (HCB)

Our Program devotes equal attention to the mutually enhancing themes of bioethics, medical humanities, and the dynamic of compassionate care in a time when both patients and healthcare professionals find the healthcare system dehumanizing. Recognizing the need for an interdisciplinary approach to education, our faculty includes experts in Medicine, Ethics, History, Law, Literature, Philosophy, Religious Studies, the Social Sciences and Disability Studies. Our clinical faculty integrate perspectives from the humanities with their experience as health-care providers.

Those who should consider applying for the program include

1.) current MDs, RNs, JDs, PhDs, and other professionals seeking further expertise and career development;

2.) medical students and others pursuing professional degrees in fields such as health care, health sciences, humanities, pastoral care, law, business, social work, and journalism; and

The Master of Arts in Health Care Administration (M.H.C.A.) degree is a 36-semester-hour accredited professional program designed primarily for public service adult lifelong learners who want to refine their knowledge, skills and abilities. The degree program consists of a core curriculum of 12 cognate courses culminating in a capstone for strategic applications in health care organizations.

Global Health Leadership has been designed to prepare leaders to identify and respond to situations challenging our healthcare and community infrastructures. Leaders must learn how to be adaptive and agile in order to create more resilient and responsive health sustems. A framework will be provided to students to step back from current geopolitical restraints to challenge a global view of comprehensive healthcare delivery. Students will learn how predictive models are being used to support disease surveillance and the identification of community hot spots. An approach to solve a community health challenge will be designed utilizing the learnings of global best practices and adaptive and agile leadership skills.

The MBA focuses on examining an organization from a functional strategic approach. This approach includes emphasis on management, marketing, finance, accounting, and economic principles in both the domestic and international marketplaces. MBA students can become immersed in a concentration that best fits their goals. Concentrations are offered in accounting, health care management, human resources, management, and marketing.

The MS in health informatics and information management is an interdisciplinary program designed to train professionals on how to acquire, store, and use information in a healthcare setting. You will learn to work with clinicians and health services administrators as a team to develop clear and effective health information strategies for a healthcare organization. As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to compete for the following positions in health care, among others:

*Health information managers, Quality improvement specialists
*Designers and planners for enterprise health information systems

It is expected that students who enter the program will have completed an undergraduate degree in a health sciences or computer and information sciences related field, with at least one programming course and at least one statistics course in the previous five years. The program can be taken completely on-line, on campus or as a hybrid combining the two modes of learning. You should choose the format that fits your schedule best. The health-care environment and the management of health care data have been greatly influenced by the field of informatics and technologic advancements, such as the Electronic Health Record (EHR). As a result, federal, state, and regional projections show a real need for professionals with advanced knowledge and training in the principles of health informatics and information management.

The Health Administration graduate certificate is designed for professionals with diverse backgrounds already in the health care industry or those ready to begin a health care career.

Through this program that can be taken on campus, online or in a hybrid format, you'll take on challenges including:

• The evolution of health systems and the organizational challenges of administration from human resources to management in times of scarce resources.
• Historic and contemporary trends in health care delivery in the United States, including cost-containment issues, access to health care and efforts to reform.

The Master of Health Administration program prepares students for management and leadership positions dedicated to improving health and health service delivery across all sectors. The program emphasizes innovation and strategic problem-solving by applying analytical, technical, and management skills required to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and integration of healthcare organizations and systems. The interdisciplinary curriculum brings students together with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals creating a collaborative learning environment. The accelerated program includes one year of academic coursework followed by an 11-month compensated administrative residency with a choice of healthcare delivery systems or consulting partners. These residencies are only available to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.

The Graduate Program in Health Administration was established in 1987 and is framed by our Jesuit emphasis on ethics and education for justice. The program has grown steadily and has graduated alumni who work in a wide range of positions and organizations. The program is designed to: 1. Prepare individuals to enter healthcare management and leadership positions; 2. Enhance the performance of individuals employed in healthcare management and leadership positions but who lack academic training and credentials; 3. Prepare individuals to enter or advance in a variety of healthcare staff positions; and, 4. Prepare individuals to advance in senior healthcare management positions.

The Master of Health Administration program consists of 10 core courses, one on-site residency, and two elective courses, for a total of 46.0 credits. All courses, except for the residency, will be conducted online through Drexel University Online. The residency, based at Drexel University's Center City campus, is designed to provide students with a full master's level collaborative experience with on-campus and/or community activities, and the experience of working directly with health care or public health service organizations to improve the planning, delivery and evaluation of these services. Students will be prepared for leadership roles in health-related businesses or organizations.

The program is designed for experienced healthcare professionals seeking to explore the three areas of health leadership - transformation, execution, and people. The program's curriculum is grounded in the business of healthcare with every class focusing on real-life application to some aspect of the healthcare industry. The curriculum is led by experienced on-campus faculty and addresses three core areas:

• Business of Health Management
• Health Methodologies
• Healthcare Policy and Health System

Students collaborate to produce an Applied Management Project which will be assigned in groups as a culminating project for the program. In this project, students will apply management tools and/or research tools to address particular administrative challenges, assuring that students think at an organizational level and use particular strategies to respond to change.

In addition to the content of the Applied Management Project, self-confidence and self-development are integrated in the management courses and the on-campus portion of the program, which encourages self-reflection, application of theoretical perspectives, and synthesis of data and management tools. In the online portion of the course, students engage in threaded discussions with classmates about their completed projects.

This curriculum is designed to help students to achieve their goals on a timeline that fits their lifestyle and allows a student to graduate in 18 months up to three years. Students also have the option to enter during the fall or spring term.

To be eligible for admission an applicant will be required to present the following:

1. A 250-500 word essay discussing your goals and objectives for pursuing admission to the degree program to which you are applying
2. Official transcripts from all previous colleges attended or official NACES course-by-course evaluation of any foreign transcripts
3. Two (2) letters of recommendation
4. Professional résumé or CV
5. Official documentation of English Language Proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) or waiver if applicable

Graduate students apply to NJCU on a rolling basis with six possible starts per calendar year.

Candidates may apply for and be accepted into the University. Those intending to enter the MBA program in the School of Business may need to successfully complete pre-requisite courses or BUSI 599 Graduate Business Essentials.

Candidates must have and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 out of 4 to remain in a graduate business degree program.

The Master of Health Administration program seeks students with a 3.0 GPA or higher from their bachelor’s degree. Generally the degree is completed in two years. No undergraduate courses will satisfy courses for both an undergraduate and master's degree (i.e. “double dipping”). Students entering the program are encouraged to have completed undergraduate coursework in health, health administration, and other business related  courses with all majors accepted.

The MHA program helps students understand business principles and their application to the health care sector. Students enrolled in the Master in Health Administration (MHA) program hone skills in business fundamentals such as finance, accounting, human resources, and process improvement, and gain knowledge in health care specific areas including the structure, organization, policy, and delivery of health care; health economics; and information technology; among others. Students also gain a comprehensive lens through which they can approach solutions in their careers through first-hand experience of daily operations and opportunities to improve processes. Students have access to C-suite leaders in the classroom and other venues. Each student will also have the opportunity to participate in an off-site internship experience. Graduates of the program are prepared to be leaders in the management and administration of health care systems, physician groups, insurance companies, medical device companies and health care facilities. 

Upon completing the MBA degree, students will be able to:
