University of Houston – A brief about History 

The University of Houston (abbreviated as UH) is located in Houston, Texas. It is a public research-focused higher education institution founded in 1927 as Houston Junior College. In 1934, it was converted into a university, followed by its statehood in 1963. It was incorporated into the newly formed University of Houston System in 1977. The Carnegie Foundation has promoted the University of Houston ranking to Tier One. It is a member of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and the Universities Research Association.

UH has 16 academic schools and colleges and an interdisciplinary Honor’s College and offers 110 undergraduate minors and majors, 120 postgraduate programmers, and 47 doctoral programmers. University of Houston: Eligibility Criteria 

To receive University of Houston acceptance, international students must apply with their Grade 12 results for undergraduate programs. The score requirements will vary depending on their chosen major/subject, but an equivalent GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale) is usually expected. Scores on the SAT/ACT are only required for select programs. Furthermore, any of the following scores are the University of Houston requirements to determine English language proficiency:

To ensure University of Houston acceptance, students must submit official secondary or high school academic records. UH prefers these to be submitted electronically via e-mail or the Common Application through a school counselor.

These official transcripts must include the word “official,” the institution’s seal, a signature from a school official, or an official watermark. The Office of Admissions determines the transcript’s validity and reserves the right to request additional or different copies if needed.

During the application process, graduate applicants must submit scanned copies of all documents.

University of Houston: Scholarships

Numerous scholarships are available through the University Of Houston College Of Education. The majority of the scholarships are for current undergraduate and graduate students, with a few exceptions for freshmen, incoming graduate students, and transfer students. Some of the scholarships are targeted towards specialized fields such as teacher education, health, school leadership, school psychology, and counseling. GPA requirements apply to some scholarships.

This scholarship is applicable for full-time undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in the College of Education.  

2. Dr. Allen R. Warner Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to undergraduate or graduate students seeking a college degree. These scholarships are determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.

3. Faith Gladstone Marshall Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated the potential to bring civic improvement through their work.

4. Helen and Melvin Wimpelberg Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is offered to certified full-time undergraduate and graduate applicants who are either entering or current students. 

5. Joshua Weinstein Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is available to full-time students pursuing history and philosophy of education, rational thinking in schools, values, and moral education, and religion and education.

6. Judy Butler Scholarship Endowment in the College of Education

This scholarship is to assist either an undergraduate or graduate student to complete his/her studies and certification program to teach Science or Mathematics Education.

5. The Mylie E. & Charles A. Durham Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate or graduate students seeking a college degree from the University of Houston. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in teaching and exhibit leadership qualities as determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.

6. Chris and Helen Smith Incoming Freshman Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to an incoming freshman majoring in Education.

According to the University of Houston’s Fall 2018 placement report, 93 percent of domestic undergraduate students and 78 percent of international undergraduate students who sought employment were placed or went on to pursue graduate degrees. The average salary was $40,765 (INR 30,44,022) for domestic undergraduate students, while for international undergraduates, the average salary was $31,000 (INR 23,14,845).
