About the University
In order to meet the needs of the city's expanding immigrant population, the Congregation of the Mission established St. John's University, a private Roman Catholic institution, in Queens in 1870. While St. John's may not have the distinction of being an Ivy League institution, it provides incredible possibilities and gives students a strong chance for career advancement. Additionally, in the 2023 edition of the Princeton Review's Best 388 Colleges, St. John's campuses were included. More than 100 bachelors, masters, and PhD degree programmes, as well as professional certificates, are offered through the university's six graduate schools and five undergraduate schools. Moreover, under the patron saint of the university Saint John the Baptist, the institution also maintains foreign campuses in Limerick, Ireland, Paris, France, and Rome, Italy. The institution is ranked at #161-170 in the QS US UNI Rankings for 2021 and 401-500th in the Times Higher Education US College Rankings for 2022. U.S. News ranks it at 166 in its National Universities tally.
