Admission into this baccalaureate degree program requires the prospective student to possess an A.S. degree from an accredited institution. Acceptance into this program will be granted through the approval of the Technology Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Technology. There are six concentrations associated with the Baccalaureate program: Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Development, Surveying Management, Information Technology, Career/Tech Education, and Agribusiness.

Additionally, students who are non-business related A.S. degree holders must also have at least 9 credit hours of lower division management courses, 3 credit hours in accounting courses, and 3 credit hours in computer courses. Acceptance into this program will be granted through the approval of the Technology Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Technology.

This Degree option is ideal for students wanting to work in Information Technology Jobs where organization security, including cyber security are a primary job responsibility such as: Network Administrator, Cyber Security Analyst, Security Specialist, or IT Technician.

The Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety is designed to provide students who have completed an Associate degree in Conservation Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Science and Safety Technology, Information Technology Support and Cyber Security, Law Enforcement, Loss Prevention, Paralegal, Emergency Management and Planning, or a related Associate degree the opportunity to complete an advanced inter-disciplinary Baccalaureate degree. Available to Students with an A.S. Degree in Information Technology or IT Support and Cyber Security.

The Information Technology Baccalaureate Concentration enhances student skills in areas such as Project Management (using the PMI®.org), Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, ERP and Business Systems (using SAP® Academic Alliance), Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence (using SAP® Academic Alliance), and Ethical Hacking (using EC Council©).

In Science Education there are four different ways in which students can prepare for licensure. We have as the major Chemistry with three concentrations of Earth/Space Science, Biology, and Physics. Pursuing a degree in one of these areas provides students an opportunity to apply for licensure in that content area for grades 5-12. Students must be admitted into the Science Education program and into Student Teaching. In addition, there are several additional mandatory requirements that students must meet (including appropriate background checks and passing required teacher examinations) at various points in the program. These additional requirements are stated in the Education Handbook and Student Teaching Handbook.

The Homeland Security and Public Safety degree’s main endeavor is to prepare students for the endless amounts of job opportunities that await educated and eager young adults to fill them. In this program, students will learn about topics such as homeland security, terrorism in all forms, crisis and emergency management, intelligence, infrastructure, loss prevention, and public safety. Students will be taught by highly experienced homeland security professors in an excellent and innovative environment.

Within this rapidly expanding field, there are many fields to be explored. Fields including law enforcement, public health, information analysis, infrastructure protection; chemical, biological, radio-logical and nuclear countermeasures, border and transportation security, emergency preparedness and response and other exciting and rewarding careers.

With VU’s Mathematics Education Program, students can complete a four-year bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) at VU.  Program graduates are eligible to take the Indiana licensure examination for licensure as mathematics teachers for grades 5-12.  Indiana has reciprocal licensure agreements with over 30 other states.

VU’s Mathematics Education program is extremely affordable compared to other teacher preparation programs in the state, and Illinois students pay the reduced-cost Indiana in-state tuition rates.  Program scholarships are available. Contact the Program Coordinator for scholarship information.
