Students in the undergraduate Healthcare Administration program gain a broad view of the healthcare delivery system and healthcare management practices. They develop skills through the curriculum and internships to prepare them primarily for entry level management positions in the organization, financing, and delivery of healthcare services.

The undergraduate program in finance prepares students to understand the financial implications inherent in virtually all business decisions. This is obviously true for a large corporation, a major bank, or a casino and hotel company. However, it is equally true for the owner of a small business with 10 employees, for a city manager with 200 employees, or for the business director of a nonprofit organization. The finance curriculum allows students to concentrate their studies on financial management, investments, or financial services.

Through an engaging curriculum that combines immersive learning and leadership development, students gain experience crafting unique business models to bring new products and services to world markets.

The discipline of economics studies how to allocate scarce resource to meet unlimited wants. Nearly all public and private issues possess important economic angles. Thus, thinking as an economist provides valuable insights into our complex world. The economics major prepares students for jobs in businesses, financial firms, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations and for advanced degrees in business, economics, law, public administration, and other social sciences. The economics major also complements learning in other areas of business and the liberal arts.

The program of study for the International Business major develops business expertise and cultural breadth. Specifically, it includes:

Business — functional capability

Students take a concentration of 3 courses (9 credits) in a chosen functional area of business (accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, or MIS) in order to acquire expertise in a specific area of business.

Business — international aspects

Majors also select 3 courses (9 credits) focused on problems specific to the business in the international context.

Language/area studies

More than anything else, it is the ability to function effectively in more than one culture that sets the IB major apart. Students complete 18 credits of study related to a chosen region of the world. (Regions include: Asia, Latin America, and Western Europe, among others.) In addition to foreign language, these courses may involve the study of the politics, history, business, culture, etc. of the target region. The program of study for the Management major prepares students for management positions in various sectors of business and industry, including banking and finance, retail, hospitality, service providers, and healthcare as well as local, state, and federal government, nonprofit organizations, and self-employment.

Information Systems (IS) are the use of management techniques to collect and process data in order to develop technological solutions for contemporary business problems.

Individuals with IS backgrounds possess knowledge of both business and information technology, which allows them to harness the power of technological tools to improve performance and productivity, drive innovation, expand the business, and make better business decisions.

The IS major prepares students for positions in information management, business intelligence/analytics, database administration, systems design, networking, security and project management, and more.

At the core of marketing is the consumer. As such, the field revolves around identifying consumers, gauging their interest, and satisfying their needs. A major in marketing opens the door to career opportunities in a myriad of places: from advertising and retailing to market research and public relations. With the advent of internet advertising and the rise of social media, combining traditional marketing concepts with fresh paradigms makes for an enriching and dynamic field of study.

Today's real estate professional must have a strong understanding of how the business world operates along with specialized skills in real estate valuation, development, financing and investment, and feasibility. The goal of the undergraduate program in Real Estate is to provide an environment in which students will be well trained in all aspects of the real estate industry. The Real Estate curriculum allows students to concentrate their studies on real estate development or finance and investments.

Computer engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical principles to the design and analysis of all hardware, software, and operating systems for a computer system. Computer engineering integrates several fields of electrical engineering and computer science. Computer engineering is one of the most vibrant and constantly changing fields in engineering. Computational capability that was only possible by machines that weighed tens of tons and required thousands of square feet of room space some time ago, are now afforded by chips smaller than a thumbnail. Billion-transistor chips and Terabyte storage are now a reality, and Petaflop performance is within reach. On the other hand, software consideration has become an essential aspect of the design process. Devices such as cell phones, digital audio players, digital video recorders, alarm systems, x-ray machines, and laser surgical tools all require integration of hardware and software.

This discipline covers the study of hardware, software, and their integration. As such, students learn the principles of electricity, signals and systems, and technologies used in making digital devices. They further study programming languages, data structure, operating systems, and databases. The knowledge acquired in the first three years of undergraduate program will culminate in architecture and design-related courses in which students experience the cost- performance tradeoffs associated with mitigating hardware issues to software. Computer engineers are employed in the manufacturing and R&D companies, federal and state government departments and research laboratories, healthcare, transportation, financial institutions, and service oriented businesses.

The goal of the Civil Engineering undergraduate degree program is to prepare graduates who can perform at the entry level in civil engineering practice having responsibility for the planning, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of civil engineering infrastructure. It is expected that some years after graduation, they can become licensed professionals. Graduates will be provided with skills and tools for life-long learning, continuing professional development, and pursuing advanced degrees.

Electrical engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical principles to the design, manufacture, and control of structures, machines, processes, and systems. In the past, the work of electrical engineers has had a direct and vital impact on people’s lives. Electrical engineers have been responsible for the creation of electric power, modern electronics, computers, electronic communication systems, modern flight controllers, automated manufacturing, and medical diagnostic tools. An electrical engineering education continues to provide opportunities for solving problems of great social significance and for increasing people’s quality of life.

Mechanical engineering is a diverse and flexible engineering discipline. Mechanical engineers work in number of fields including design of machinery, controls, vibrations and acoustics, power generation, renewable energy, energy conservation, fluid flow and heat transfer applications, and air-conditioning. The program synthesizes math, science, engineering science, and engineering design. The program provides electives in several general areas, including thermal-sciences, mechanical design and manufacturing, robotics and automation, mechanical and environmental systems, nuclear engineering, aerospace engineering, and bioengineering. Students begin the practice of design in their freshman year and integrate it throughout their programs which culminate in a team-oriented capstone design project in the senior year. The program is geared to prepare students for the lifelong practice of mechanical engineering and for immediate entry to positions in industry or further studies in graduate schools. The department also offers the Integrated B.S.-M.S. program for qualified undergraduate students.

The B.S. program in biochemistry is a comprehensive undergraduate program of intensive course work in chemistry and biochemistry with a laboratory emphasis. It provides for flexibility in the selection of in-depth biology course electives to complement the rigorous chemistry foundation of the program.

Biology is the study of life. The earth is filled with an enormous variety of living organisms; therefore, an understanding of the basic biological processes common to all organisms is essential to understanding the world. In recent decades, great strides have been made in understanding important biological processes, particularly those at the molecular, cellular, and ecosystem levels. An understanding of biological systems depends, in part, on the principles of physics and chemistry; thus a firm background in the physical sciences is also important in the study of biology. For many, an undergraduate major in biology (Bachelor of Science (B.S. Degree)) serves as a basis for postgraduate study in the life sciences. School of Life Sciences graduates have gone on to advanced graduate study, leading to careers in college or university teaching, basic and applied research, and public health. Many have entered professional programs in medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry. Other graduates have gone directly into secondary (high school) science teaching, the biomedical industry, independent laboratory research, natural resources management, or environmental education.

The Biological Sciences undergraduate degree program aims to diversely train its students, enabling graduates to pursue careers or advanced degrees in life and health sciences, research, education, industry, or governmental work. Based on their individual interests, students may select from the following concentrations: Biotechnology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Comprehensive Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Education, Integrative Physiology, Microbiology, and Pre-Professional Studies. All biology undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. Each concentration may require specific upper division courses; therefore the number of upper division electives may vary across concentrations.

The B.A. degree in chemistry is an intensive undergraduate program that includes introductory and foundational course work in chemistry, with a substantial laboratory experience. The program provides greater flexibility in the selection of advanced chemistry course work along with elective courses offered by the Department, the College of Sciences, and other colleges within the university.

The B.S. degree in chemistry is an intensive and comprehensive undergraduate program as identified by the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training (ACS-CPT). This program includes introductory and foundational course work in chemistry, in-depth course work in chemistry and a laboratory emphasis, including research experience that provides for the development of the professional skills needed to be an effective chemist.

The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science degree program is designed to teach students basic computer science techniques and how to apply them to another subject area, such as business, biology, psychology, graphic design, etc. The curriculum for this degree is less mathematically rigorous than the Bachelor of Science program but still teaches the essential tools and algorithms used in computer science. Students are required to complete 15 credits from an application area outside of computer science

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program is a mathematically rigorous, scientifically oriented curriculum that prepares students to become proficient in all fundamental areas and techniques of computer science. Students learn how to develop efficient algorithms to solve problems in a variety of application areas and implement their solutions using appropriate programming languages and computer systems. This degree program will also prepare students to pursue research opportunities and postgraduate studies in Computer Science.

The Bachelor of Science degree follows the model curriculum specified by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).

Prepares you for professional practice as a construction manager. Provides a well-rounded educational background in business, construction management and science, liberal arts, management, mathematics, and college physics. The program emphasizes construction science courses that are for the most part noncalculus-based.
