The Honors Tutorial College (HTC) program in business offers exceptional students the opportunity to study the many aspects of business in one-on-one tutorials, small seminars, and conventional class relationships with business faculty. Maximum opportunities are afforded for the student to progress beyond the material found in the standard business curriculum. The program develops students' research, writing, and presentation skills and provides excellent preparation for the job market or for graduate study. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. HTC students take a mix of conventional classes and tutorials. The mix tightly integrates students into both the College of Business and the Honors Tutorial College, rather than existing in an honors silo. To promote flexibility, students are exempt from many of the distribution requirements required of other business students. They are also exempt from course prerequisites and are given preferential scheduling.

Business analytics refers to the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the methodical exploration and investigation of business data using predictive, and prescriptive statistical tools to support decision making and to gain insight of business performance. The OHIO College of Business offers an undergraduate major that develops students skills and competencies in business analytics and provides them with hands on experience of statistical tools used in the business environment using data provided by industry partners.
 

The goal of the program is to provide students with an in-depth and rigorous study of the field of entrepreneurship. A primary focus is in honing the ability of students to either start a new venture or develop the ability to meaningfully contribute in a corporate entrepreneurial setting.

In today's global economy, all businesses–whether large or small–are affected by international competitors and global events. Success in the global marketplace will depend on the capabilities of managers to understand the structures and processes that underlie international business, and who develop the skills and attitudes consistent with leading and managing teams and organizations within complex, multicultural contexts. The international business major is designed to provide this understanding and to develop the requisite competencies of global business leaders.

The management information systems (MIS) curriculum is designed to develop skills in the analysis, design and implementation of business information systems. Our program teaches students to look at businesses holistically as an integrated system of people, business processes and information technology. We move beyond "techie" skills such as programming to emphasize a functional understanding of technologies and how they can promote business strategies. In other words, improving business processes through the use of technology. For example, redesigning the purchase process at a store to enable payment to be charged to a phone, in order to meet the strategic goal of improved customer service.

Marketing is the lifeline of any organization. It links the organization with its customers and is vital not only to the survival of the organization, but also to the maintenance of the free enterprise system. The marketing curriculum is designed to give students both broad overview of marketing knowledge and experience. Foundational marketing courses include: professional selling, marketing research, consumer behavior and marketing strategy.

Today's dynamic and highly competitive businesses require energetic and capable leaders who can add value and create high performance at all levels of enterprise responsibility. The major in management and strategic leadership is designed to create the foundations of knowledge and personal capability requisite to lifelong professional learning and career-long success in business leadership.

Success in strategic business leadership requires a broad base of conceptual knowledge, personal skills, and competencies. The required courses ensure a variety of rich developmental experiences that can include community service learning, individual leadership and emotional intelligence assessments, case analysis, research projects, team-based active learning projects, and guest speakers, in addition to traditional classroom lectures and discussions. The major places a strong emphasis on written and oral communications skills, teamwork, and personal initiative.

The Bachelor of Science in Technical Operations Management (BSTOM) is a two-year bachelors degree completion program in the department of Engineering Technology and Management. The two plus two mixed delivery (online and class room delivery) program leads to a Bachelors of Science in Technical Operations Management (BSTOM) from the Russ College of Engineering and Technology and a minor in Business from the College of Business at Ohio University.

The mission of the One-Year MBA program is to provide the best graduate education for business students in the region, by focusing on knowledge acquisition, systematic applied learning, and professional development.

The mission of the Professional MBA is to provide working professionals with the management skills and business acumen necessary to advance their careers.

The Professional MBA program utilizes a blended delivery curriculum that employs virtual classrooms, online learning modules and once-a-month Saturday residencies allowing students maximum flexibility to learn course content. The residencies are held on the Dublin campus of Ohio University near Columbus, Ohio. A cohort design provides students networking and shared learning experiences. Each cohort begins coursework and progresses through the program together over a period of 24 months.

Gain specialized training in the use of advanced analytical techniques for managerial decision-making. Focus will be placed on managing, processing, and analyzing data in order to address a multitude of business challenges and opportunities. Draws upon a portfolio of methods that include data mining, optimization, and database management so that data can be transformed into information and insights in order for organization to meet their strategic goals.

Learn to collect, interpret, and utilize the analytics and data that drive successful business. Develop the capacity for critical thinking and confident decision-making. Focus on the theories, challenges and practices associated with implementing organizational change. Examine ethical business in the global environment.

Examine the risks and rewards for investing in volatile markets and gain a deeper understanding of portfolio management and corporate finance. Focus on the study of financial protocol, including capital; the structure of financial institutions; dividend policies; long and short term financing; and risk management at the firm level.

Prepare for roles in senior management as well as product development, marketing, operations, and supply-chain analysis in the high-demand field of health care. Examine the U.S. health care delivery system, explore the intricacies of health care finance, and focus on the rules and regulations governing health care practice and the insurance industry.

The Business Venturing concentration addresses a critical need for professionals to develop the competences that enable venturing in an established organization or startup. Students will develop innovative competences, and mindset for self or organization. Students will also develop the competences in individuals (transferable to organizations) that can help map, build and grow entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Strategic Selling and Sales curriculum content will include topics such as sales force management, strategic account management, leading sales teams, sales analytics, selling methodologies, and account analysis and selection.

The Supply Chain and Operations Management concentration provides students with a global perspective. Students will understand the complexity and interdependence of functions within an organization as well as organizations within a supply network. Students will gain an understanding of continuous improvement for increasing quality levels, decreasing costs, and reducing risks within an organization. A student that completes this certificate will be a more effective manager, a systems-thinker, and a problem solver.

Deepen your understanding of today’s financial opportunities and challenges with a broader overview of the conceptual framework of accounting, as well as the advanced accounting knowledge that can help you move into managerial and C-suite roles. Focus on capital budgeting, finance, taxation and accounting information systems, forensic accounting, and government/ not-for-profit accounting.

The mission of the MBA and MSA dual program is to prepare students for leadership positions in the sport and entertainment industry by combining the academically rigorous One-Year MBA program with the sport-specific knowledge of the MSA program. The curriculum addresses the growing complexity of the sports, facility, and entertainment industries, and helps our students develop the essential skills in communication, collaboration, and teamwork that are critical for success.

The mission of this program is to graduate dedicated leaders and  skilled project managers exceptionally well suited to lead people and projects.

The Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) program is a comprehensive examination of the specific management and leadership skills aligned to industry standards such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and others. With classes focused on the project management processes and universally applicable topics such as change and risk management, students who graduate will be prepared to lead with knowledge and confidence while enhancing credentials. Students will interact with and learn from a faculty of project management leaders experienced in industry, while gaining project management insights and expertise, which can immediately be applied to their current positions.
