The Bachelor of Science in entrepreneurship program is campus-based and requires 120 hours of coursework. Students will take courses in topic areas such as entrepreneurial finance, sales and marketing, strategy, opportunity assessment, business planning, small and family business management, and new venture launch. The program will also include 18 hours for students to develop a specialty area of interest to help guide them through the business plan and new venture launch courses.

The BS degree in health services management is designed to provide you with the skills and competencies to function as a supervisor or manager in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, retirement communities, insurance companies, medical supply companies, public health departments, medical practices, and a variety of other health service delivery organizations. You might manage an entire facility, specialize in managing a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of physicians. As health care changes, medical and health services managers must be able to adapt to changes in laws, regulations, and technology.

You would enter the program as a junior and become skilled in business writing, ethics and health law, human diseases, health-care systems, leadership, interpersonal skills, health data management, healthcare operations management, finance and accounting, personnel management, medical practice management, and health services research. In addition, you would complete an internship during the last semester of your senior year. With some additional work, graduates are also prepared for entrance into master's programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy or the physician assistant studies program.

The degree is completely self-contained, requiring no prerequisite business experience or course work. The program is divided into the foundation and common body of knowledge. The foundation component quickly gives a non-business undergraduate student the same academic knowledge base as that of an undergraduate business student.

You can pursue the MBA program on campus, completely online, or as a combination of the two delivery methods. The requirements and structure of the program are the same regardless of face-to-face or online delivery. You can set your own pace throughout the program - taking between one to five classes each semester. You can even take a semester or more off if needed.

The MS in health informatics and information management is an interdisciplinary program designed to train professionals on how to acquire, store, and use information in a healthcare setting. As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to compete for the following positions in health care, among others:

It is expected that students who enter the program will have completed an undergraduate degree in a health sciences or computer and information sciences related field, with at least one programming course and at least one statistics course in the previous five years. The program can be taken completely on-line, on campus or as a hybrid combining the two modes of learning. You should choose the format that fits your schedule best. The health-care environment and the management of health care data have been greatly influenced by the field of informatics and technologic advancements, such as the Electronic Health Record (EHR). As a result, federal, state, and regional projections show a real need for professionals with advanced knowledge and training in the principles of health informatics and information management.

The sustainable tourism and hospitality program draws upon emerging sustainability sciences ranging from the physical to the social to address complex sustainable tourism issues. Science and education are critical partners in the sustainable, long-term management of tourism, and this program provides the foundation for this new approach to sustainable management.

The program is anchored on study in four core sustainability and tourism areas: introductory, science, business, and planning and policy. Further study is chosen to fit the career aspirations of the student and reflect the "triple bottom line" of sustainable tourism: economic, environmental, and sociocultural viability. Students can also opt for independent study and/or internship experience. In addition, we have several study abroad opportunities during the summer. Given the unique and interdisciplinary nature of the degree, we have accepted students from a variety of undergraduate backgrounds.

Students will have the opportunity work with faculty who are experts in their field. There are many opportunities to work with clients or community partners on sustainability projects. Most students can qualify for a graduate assistantship and there are other funding opportunities as well.

The Master of Science in Technology Management (MSTM) degree is designed to enable technology professionals to move up in their careers by attaining higher management and leadership positions. The curriculum focuses on learning creative problem-solving and management principles for technology-driven industries and businesses. Instruction in advanced technology, management and leadership concepts that are geared toward the needs of our rapidly changing technological global economy are provided in the program. Professionals learn advanced problem-solving skills and develop technological decision-making capabilities through analytical thinking, applied research, technology development and productivity improvement.

Under the Microsoft Academic Alliance and the Red Hat Academy, all students gain in-depth experience in configuring and maintaining networked operating systems and server applications. Under the Cisco Networking Academy, students gain an in-depth understanding of inter-network technology and experience hands-on practice with Cisco routers and switches.

Students are required to have an internship and to complete a two-semester professional capstone project, both areas that will only help you be competitive with most IT positions. Furthermore, students have the potential to earn up to seven professional certifications that will give an additional boost in the job market.

The information and computer technology program provides a wide range of experiences in, and apart from, the technology areas that prepare you to work in the field. The East Carolina University Department of Computer Science offers a Bachelor of Science in software engineering, which provides boundless career opportunities. The program provides an emphasis on developing large-scale, high-quality and secure software systems. Software engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines the disciplines of computer science and engineering. Individuals with a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field who want to expand their knowledge and experience in software development, software testing, software architecture, or software project management are excellent candidates for this master's degree program. The curriculum includes software engineering foundation, software construction, software architecture and design, software systems modeling and analysis, and software verification and validation.

East Carolina University's engineering program is an ABET-accredited program that was founded in 2004 and had its first graduates in May 2008. As a young program, we have the ability to adapt to the needs of our students and our region. While three of the six concentrations we offer (biomedical engineering, bioprocess engineering, and industrial/systems engineering) have been around since the program's inception, three other concentrations (electrical engineering, environmental engineering, and mechanical engineering) have been added at the request of our industry partners. Offering a general engineering degree with concentrations provides us the flexibility to meet employer demands by providing well-rounded, technically savvy engineers who are effective communicators and good problem solvers.

Students begin our program as first-term freshmen. During the senior year, all students complete a Capstone Design Project. For the project, student teams complete a project for an industry partner. The design experience is intended to mirror the type of work a first-year engineer does in the field.

To date, our graduates have been able to find employment in a variety of engineering positions. Also, a number of graduates have chosen to attend graduate school at universities such as N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Florida, Auburn, and Penn State.

IET majors are highly sought after by business and industry employers as they are good in two arenas: (1) making components and parts work together to create functioning automated systems, and (2) lead problem solving teams to improve productivity and profitability for business processes.

The industrial engineering technology program prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in the improvement of processes in production and service environments. This includes instruction in process and productivity improvement, production line operations, inventory control, operations management, cost and capital project analysis, plant layout, work planning, quality systems, and statistical quality control. Our society needs technologists who can apply math and science to operate and improve complex systems and operate and manage production facilities to produce complex products.

Students in the program also gain valuable knowledge and experience in the establishment of systems, systems analysis, electronics and instrumentation, computer-aided design and manufacturing, programmable logic controllers, electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, robotics, and automation. Graduates from this program are hired as industrial engineers/technologists, productivity improvement specialists, process and quality control engineers, and for overall management in manufacturing and service industries. The program employs an application-oriented hands-on approach to allow students to learn and practice skills in communications, teamwork, problem solving, management, and leadership. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Lean Enterprise and Six-Sigma are also cornerstones of the program. A capstone project is conducted in the final semester by students to validate the concepts learned. After successfully completing the capstone project, many students from the program are offered full-time employment where they have conducted the project.

The industrial technology program prepares technical- and/or management-oriented professionals for employment in business, industry, education, and government whose duties and responsibilities primarily involve the management, operation, and maintenance of complex technological systems. The curriculum has a strong emphasis in management, which allows the graduate to function well in either technical or decision-making career fields. Students develop a combination of technical, business and communication skills that allow them to succeed and lead in their respective disciplines.

Our industrial technology program offers eight different concentrations, six of which can be completed entirely online. Concentrations include information and computer technology, industrial supervision, manufacturing systems, distribution and logistics, bioprocess manufacturing, health information technologies, architectural technology and mechanical technology.

Please note that our online option is designed for part-time enrollment of one to two courses per term though more courses can be taken if seats are available. Online classes are delivered via state-of-the-art teaching tools such as BlackBoard, CENTRA, Moodle, and more.

They also take part in biomedical research and the development of biomaterials, bioelectronics, and biomechanics, including tissue generation and bioengineering blood vessels and organs.
