Our new BSc Accountancy (Flying Start) programme will fast track your career in Business and Accounting and put you on track to becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. This bespoke programme is a collaboration between the Queen Mary University of London, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

During your studies, you will learn technical and theoretical accounting skills with academic specialists who are experts in their field and experienced practising accountants. You will be supported by a team of dedicated staff from both Queen Mary’s School of Business and Management and PwC, who will help you develop the business skills you need to gain a degree and progress towards a professional qualification. Built into the course is a series of paid work placements, meaning you will have the opportunity to apply the technical theory you learn in the classroom, directly to the workplace.

You will get to work on real projects for real clients as part of PwC's assurance team and develop new skills and gain a broad knowledge of business issues. You will receive technical training during the paid placements, which will take place during years 2 and 3 of the programme.

BSc Accounting and Finance is an interdisciplinary programme with a clear focus in accounting, which also aims to provide students with broader insights into the world of corporate finance.

Throughout your programme, you will undertake a number of compulsory modules in accounting and finance as well as elective modules in economics, statistics, law, management and leadership. Our BSc Business Management with Chinese and Year Abroad (4 years) is a joint honours programme providing you with the opportunity to study two complementary disciplines, which will equip you to work in an international environment and prepare you to become a global citizen. You'll build a skill set that prepares you to take up the challenge of addressing complex business and management issues, and, with a year abroad spent at one of our partner universities in China, you will receive direct exposure to one of the world's most exciting business backdrops.

The programme combines 75% of Business and Management modules with 25% of Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture modules. You'll gain a broad understanding of business and management theories and practices in the subject areas of general management, human resources management and leadership, marketing, accounting and finance and entrepreneurship and innovation. At the same time, you'll explore the business culture of China as well as deepen your knowledge of the language, historical, cultural, and political environment of China. 

This programme is ideal if you wish to undertake a specialist degree in business management and also prepare for working in an international environment by studying Mandarin Chinese.

Our Financial Mathematics MSci is ideal for students planning a career in the more quantitative areas of finance and banking, and for those wanting to undertake academic research.

In your first year, you’ll take modules that will give you a foundation in all the core areas of mathematics and statistics, and gain practical data analysis skills. In later years you’ll have the opportunity to study modules across financial and actuarial mathematics, statistical modelling, financial management, programming and more.

In your final year, you’ll take advanced modules and develop your research skills by completing an individual project in contemporary mathematical finance. Projects are supervised by one of the School’s academics, many of whom have industry experience in mathematical finance.
