Master of Architecture at University of Manitoba

The Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Environmental Design is a four year pre-professional degree program that prepares students for careers in Architecture and Environmental Design professions. The program is based on the understanding that the skills required for designing the built environment come from a broad education that draws on science, technology, humanities and the arts.

The curriculum provides a balanced course of study, which includes courses in graphic skills, technology, history, and theories of the built environment as well as courses throughout the university. The core of the program are the design studio courses where students synthesize what they have learned in the exploration of hypothetical and real life design projects. Architecture and Environmental Design graduates are prepared for entry level positions in architecture and related design fields as well as advancement to professional degree programs, including the SA+P graduate programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and City and Regional Planning.

The Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture (MASA) is a post-professional research degree offered in a two-year curriculum. Students work in independent design or research-based studies in collaboration with faculty members engaged in certain research themes. This immersive program is for those who wish to synthesize existing knowledge in architecture and progress contemporary concepts in the field. Within the wider University community, students engage themselves in a focused research environment enriched by resources and support from related disciplines such as community and regional planning, civil engineering, geography, and art history, visual and theory.

Lincoln's Postgraduate Diploma incorporates the architectural professional practice employed in the management of the design process and construction of projects. Students are required to be in full-time employment, typically within an appropriate UK based design practice (or similar) under the direction of a UK Registered Architect, who acts as an Employment Mentor.

The programme has been designed to enable students to develop their knowledge, understanding, ability, and skills of the professional practice and management of architecture. Students will be able to develop a comprehensive understanding of their obligations and responsibilities as a professional to clients, the profession, and society at large.
