Carlow’s MEd in Curriculum and Instruction: Dyslexia Teaching certificate program utilizes systematic and explicit multisensory-based structured literacy in early childhood reading instruction. You’ll get a strong foundation in those elements as well as a comprehensive look at current brain research in the field of dyslexia.

The four courses in the program can also be taken as a track in the MEd in Curriculum and Instruction program and are aligned with the International Dyslexia Association standards for educators and teachers of reading. Parents, community members or nonformal educators interested in more academic and practical information about dyslexia teaching are welcome in the program.

The M.A.T. with a concentration in TESOL program is designed for individuals who have earned a bachelor's degree in a liberal arts discipline closely associated with a teaching area (e.g., biology, history, mathematics, psychology, chemistry, English, etc. but not business administration, nursing, engineering, etc.) and want to complete teacher licensure.  This program draws on theories of linguistics, research on social and cultural variables that influence second language acquisition, and the knowledge required to facilitate second language learning. The TESOL program will prepare future educators to understand and implement equitable and effective ways of working with English Language Learners in a variety of contexts, including content/general education classes, sheltered-ESL classes and pullout classes. Completion of this MAT program leads to eligibility for a Virginia teaching license for PreK-12 English as a Second Language.

The Department of Counseling and Student Personnel Doctorate of Education and Supervision is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling in Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The Ed.D. program emphasizes advanced practice preparation and applied research and is conveniently scheduled to meet the needs of working professionals.

Winona State University currently offers a two-year Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) Program for students who have completed, or will complete by the MSAT start date, a bachelor’s degree and all program requirements. This option allows students to complete the professional graduate program in Athletic Training, including all courses and clinical education requirements necessary to become a certified athletic trainer.

The Master of Education Degree (M.Ed.) at Utah Valley University is an applied master’s program aimed at building the instructional skills and professional competency of teachers. Currently there are twelve emphases for participants: Applied Behavioral Analysis; Educational Leadership; Educational Technology; Elementary Mathematics; Elementary STEM, English as a Second Language (ESL), Gifted and Talented Education, Higher Education Leadership, Reading I, School Counseling, Secondary Teaching and Teacher Leadership. The M.Ed. program emphasizes coursework that prepares teachers to become instructional leaders, with classes in advanced pedagogy, subject matter content, curriculum design, and assessment. Core coursework in research methods is required of participants in all options, however, students select a topic for a culminating project according to their interest or area of licensure in K-12 education.

The Educational Studies Department offers a comprehensive graduate academic program in educational leadership within which a student may earn a Master of Science in Education (MS Ed.), an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree, and/or an Educational Doctorate (Ed.D.). The master's program concentrates on the general background and skills needed for entry into positions of educational leadership. Sequences at the education specialist level expand this base and add elements that contribute to continued professional growth and those required, specifically, to qualify for the position of superintendent of schools. The doctorate program develops instructional leaders. This goal is achieved by means of a collaborative, inquiry-based learning structure that unites a group of practicing professionals to explore how theory, research, and heightened political understanding serve to resolve the issues educational leaders regularly face. Additionally principal licensure and superintendent licensure are offered.

The Master of Athletic Training (MAT) degree is offered through the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services. The professional preparation coursework in this program encompass the professional domains of athletic training. The overall objectives of the YSU Athletic Training Education Program are to instruct, evaluate, and provide learning-over-time for students in the following professional domains:

1. Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Protection:Students identify injury, illness and risk factors associated with participation in sport/physical activity and implement all components of a comprehensive wellness protection plan and injury prevention program.
2. Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis:Students conduct a thorough initial clinical evaluation of injuries and illnesses commonly sustained by the athlete/physically active individual and formulate an initial diagnosis of the injury and or illness for the primary purposes of administering care or making appropriate referrals to physicians for further diagnosis and medical treatment.
3. Immediate and Emergency Care:  Students provide appropriate first aid and emergency care for acute injuries according to accepted standards and procedures, including effective communication for appropriate and efficient referral, evaluation, diagnosis, and follow up care.
4. Treatment and Rehabilitation:Students plan and implement a comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation and/or reconditioning program for injuries and illnesses, including long and short-term goals, for optimal performance and function.
5. Organizational and Professional Health and Well-being:Students plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative components of an athletic training program, comply with the most current BOC practice standards and state/federal regulations, and develop a commitment to life-long learning and evidence-based clinical practice

The Master of Arts in Teaching Writing Program helps teachers at all levels, K-University, in all disciplines, learn to become master teachers of writing, acquiring new and innovative ways to teach writing to their students, studying theories and best practices on the teaching of writing that they can share with their colleagues, and pursuing their own writing in an exciting and supportive online community of teachers and writers. The Teaching Writing Program allows participants to address individual situations, needs, and interests while learning within a diverse community. By offering flexible, interactive, and customized learning, the program provides a model for teaching writing and a forum where all teachers can learn and grow together as teachers of writing, and as writers too.

The core focus of the Master of Education in Leadership in Physical Education and Movement Studies program will be on leadership, offering coursework to better equip professionals to emerge as leaders in the field.

Students will select a “focus area” consisting of 12 credits of in-depth study in a specific area of the discipline. In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore outside of the focus area, or even within other disciplines, with 3 elective credits.
