Actuaries have been called financial architects and social mathematicians because of their unique blend of analytical and business skills in the insurance and financial services industries. They serve as consultants in firms that specialize in employee benefits and pensions, in the government sector, and in a variety of other roles. To be recognized as a qualified actuary, a person should become a member of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society. Membership is obtained by passing a series of examinations. Completion of Robinson’s actuarial science program greatly enhances the possibility of passing those exams.

In order to meet the critical shortage of actuarial personnel in this region, the Southeastern Actuaries Club endorsed the establishment of Robinson’s actuarial program as part of the university’s comprehensive insurance educational activity. The program continues to have the strong support of the actuarial profession and is ranked #1 in actuarial research among North American business schools.

Information technology is the driving force behind successful businesses. IT skills are among the most in-demand. There is an ongoing shortage of people who have both the IT skills and the business acumen to create a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. The mission of the CIS major in Robinson’s B.B.A. program is to produce graduates able to fill this need. Students will learn how to combine their business knowledge and hands-on technology skills to create the computer systems that companies need to succeed. CIS majors prepare for careers in areas such as consulting, systems development, business process analysis, cybersecurity, IT project management, business intelligence, data analytics, process innovation, and programming.

The B.B.A. in Finance program provides students with a thorough understanding of financial operations in both non-financial and financial businesses as well as a broader understanding of financial markets.

Students learn to develop and implement financial strategies that maximize firm value, understand and apply state-of-the-art analytical financial tools, and analyze and manage financial market risks.

The Department of Finance is noted for its faculty’s outstanding teaching, research, and business experience as well as for its diverse course offerings, ranging from corporate strategy and asset management to fintech and financial data analytics.

Entrepreneurship is more than just starting your own business. It’s a mindset—a way of thinking and acting. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute (ENI) develops business leaders who possess the knowledge, skills, and confidence to develop, scale, and deliver products, services, and solutions to real-world problems. These skills and mindsets can be applied to a range of organizational contexts: as a sole entrepreneurial startup, as key members of a founding team, or as an entrepreneurial member of a larger organization.

The major in entrepreneurship equips students with an entrepreneurial mindset of problem solving, critical thinking, and team-working skills. The program provides a foundation to address customers’ problems with effective solutions. In today’s fast-paced, dynamic economy, employers value an entrepreneurial mindset in new hires across a wide range of jobs and industries. Furthermore, students with entrepreneurial skills are better prepared to successfully establish and grow their own business.

Graduates from the B.B.A. in Management program will be poised to assume positions in industry sectors including human resources, operations management, and entrepreneurship.

All students select one of the following three tracks:

• business analysis
• human resource management
• supply chain and operations management

The B.B.A. in Hospitality Administration program provides a well-integrated curriculum with a focus in general business and hospitality while incorporating courses on the arts and sciences that prepare students for management positions in the hospitality industry.

While the core coursework equips students with a general knowledge of the field, specialized elective courses and work study experiences allow students to gain insight into varied industry segments.

The B.B.A. in Marketing program provides students with fundamental preparation in general marketing and an understanding of markets and customers, product development, pricing strategies, advertising and promotion, and methods of distribution.

Risk management is the critical piece that enables businesses to function, leap over hurdles, and adeptly handle roadblocks. Organizations that don’t effectively predict and mitigate risks face the possibility of unrecoverable financial setbacks and, ultimately, total failure. They’re basically like skydivers without parachutes.

Risk management professionals are extremely well-paid, heavily recruited, and oftentimes the coolest people in meetings and boardrooms. Robinson is the perfect place for you to pursue an undergraduate degree in risk: we prepare students from all backgrounds for successful careers in risk-related fields.

The B.B.A. in Real Estate program offers a broad-based curriculum that provides a balance between theory and practice. The coursework emphasizes the following major components of real estate: appraisal, corporate real estate, development, finance, investments, and market analysis.

The B.I.S. in Social Entrepreneurship prepares students to become agents and leaders of social change who will transform communities through innovative startups and existing social enterprises. The program was created not only to tackle the most complex problems, but to help students become better employees, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Students in the program are involved in co-curricular activities and internships that will give them experience working in and interacting with social enterprises, gaining practical knowledge of the field and exposure to the diverse employment opportunities within the discipline. Students will leave this program with the business formation knowledge needed to start a social enterprise at any point in their career.

Robinson’s M.S. in Quantitative Risk Analysis & Management is the only program in the nation that combines cutting-edge financial modeling with an actuarial curriculum. For 2021, TFE Times ranks us 6th in the nation among public financial engineering programs and 15th overall.

Through a STEM-designated curriculum, you will build skills in risk analysis, financial modeling, credit analysis, and data analytics. You also will develop a mastery of InsureTech, fintech, and machine learning. You’ll put all your knowledge to the test in Robinson’s FinTech Lab, where you will collaborate with financial services firms on complex projects.

In just one additional semester, you can earn a dual degree in either actuarial science or analytics, making your skill set doubly attractive to employers.

This dual degree combines the quantitative methods used in not only banking and capital but also insurance markets. The program enables graduates to widen their career perspectives in any financial services sector.

• Analytics/Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management

This dual degree equips students with the data analytics skills and quantitative finance methods used in financial institutions. Robinson's M.S. in Supply Chain Management is designed to equip students with advanced analytical and managerial skills needed to drive performance and effect positive change in today’s complex supply chains. Special emphasis is placed on the role of coordination and synchronization across all members of the supply chain to collectively create value for customers in the most efficient way possible. Students will put their new knowledge into action through a hands-on project addressing a pressing, real-world supply chain challenge.

The GLR comprises executives with senior-level responsibility for logistics, operations, and supply chain management at nationwide companies. The Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the interdisciplinary study of people of African descent, connecting with the community and promoting social justice, while offering a curriculum that reflects the highest aspirations of education in an evolving society.

Our department's research focus engages the experiences of Africans and African descendants in the U.S. and globally through the lenses of ethnicity, culture, gender, sexuality and social structure. Our instruction and curriculum promotes critical thinking, research skills and proficiency in oral and written communication.

The career possibilities are endless with a bachelor’s degree in biology. A strong foundation in life science is a strong foundation for almost any career path.

While students can choose to stay on the General Studies track, we offer concentrations in:

Undergraduate students can get involved in research and two interdisciplinary areas of focus — The Molecular Basis of Disease program and The Brains and Behavior program — provide competitive fellowships, seminars and symposia to support Biology undergraduate and graduate researchers. The Department also offers students the unique opportunity to participate in community outreach through the Bio-Bus program, which sends a mobile teaching laboratory to primary and secondary schools throughout metro-Atlanta.

Dual-degree opportunities enable qualified students to enroll in graduate courses late in their undergraduate program and apply the coursework toward both the bachelor’s and master’s programs. That can mean saving a year or more in time and tuition dollars.

Students must be formally accepted into the dual-degree program by the department and College of Arts and Sciences to be able to take graduate courses as an undergraduate. Acceptance into the dual program does not constitute admission to the master’s program. Students must fulfill regular graduate admissions requirements and apply for the master’s program following college processes.

he Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) in Biomedical Science and Enterprise (BSEN) program prepares graduates for a range of exciting careers in the biomedical industry or advanced degrees in science, business or law. The program offers an innovative approach to education that combines studies in biomedical science, business, entrepreneurship and law, and teaches students the scientific, legal and commercial aspects of scientific discovery.

The BSEN program is a perfect fit for anyone passionate about patient care, intrigued by the scientific study of human diseases or interested in creating and marketing the next generation of disease-preventing therapeutics or wearable health devices.
