The UMHB accounting program prepares future accounting professionals for interesting and varied accounting careers. Whether you choose public accounting, tax, audit, corporate accounting, government, financial planning, investigative accounting, forensic accounting, or any other path, UMHB provides the foundation you’ll need. The sequestered, uncreative, nerdy, stay-in-your-cube accountant is a myth. Accounting involves logic, analytics, creative skills, and leadership. We use numbers, but only as a means to support business decisions or compliance results. It’s not just rewarding; it is fascinating, interesting, and even fun.

We are all inundated with technology daily, but do we really know what technologies best serve us? Instead of only learning how technology works, BCIS students learn what types of technology should be used, as well as when and where it can best benefit an organization. BCIS graduates use their knowledge of information systems and business to analyze situations, develop solutions to problems, and provide recommendations of technologies for new opportunities. BCIS graduates are capable of developing solutions for web, windows, and mobile environments, and they work in many industries throughout the world.

International Business includes learning about other cultures, understanding the global economic environment, and thinking globally about business operations. International trips for academic credit are offered regularly. At least one study abroad trip is required to complete the major, and some students participate in multiple study abroad trips in the course of their studies.

As a management major, you acquire the necessary knowledge to contribute to the success of whatever organization you choose to join, whether private, public, or not-for-profit. Students learn current information about the practice of business management, build problem-solving and communication skills, and grapple with the ethical implications of managerial work. With the management major, students can minor in any area which complements their interests. This degree is a doorway to the business world!

At the McLane College of Business, Marketing majors receive a broad-based, skill-centered education in all the major functions of a business enterprise and also are able to develop the necessary expertise to become a marketing professional.

The supply chain includes the production and movement of materials and products from suppliers to manufacturers to distributors to retailers and finally to the end customers. Managing this process is critical to the success of any company along the supply chain. At the McLane College of Business, supply chain majors learn the skills needed to be supply chain professionals.

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree is designed to prepare graduates for business leadership positions. The knowledge, practiced skills, and attitudes needed for success in management are taught. Critical and applied thinking as well as oral and written professional communication are emphasized throughout the program. Students can choose to concentrate in one of four tracks: Accounting, Information Systems Management, International Business, or Management.
