Surveying and Mapping (BS) at The University of Akron

As a sport management major, you’ll not only learn about the psychological principles at work behind sports, but how sports fit into and influence our society. You’ll examine how the business sector and sports world interact, and how to make the most of these interactions. You’ll work in a collaborative classroom, with experienced faculty dedicated to your college and career success.

Students in our program will establish an understanding of the full range of business and sports management concepts, develop strong business writing and verbal communication skills appropriate to the field, gain exposure to the sports management industry through practical learning and field experiences. You’ll be prepared with foundational skills in management, finance, accounting, and marketing. You’ll learn about the legal and ethical considerations involved with sports and you’ll be prepared to pursue managerial positions in the field.

Companies are finding that sustainability initiatives save costs and streamline processes. Students will learn how to collect, clean and analyze data on a wide range of sustainability-related factors, such as energy and resource use/re-use as well as greenhouse gas emissions. Students will use the latest tools and techniques to assist companies in making data-driven decisions about sustainability-related initiatives as well as improve their overall resource efficiency.
