Data released by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) shows that Indian students remained the biggest beneficiary in 2022, with over 226,450 visas approved. This makes India the top source for international students entering the North American country.

Per the data released, Canada has also set an immigration record, seeing 5,51,405 international students from 184 countries in 2022.

China and the Philippines followed India at second and third positions with 52,165 and 23,380 students, respectively.

Also, India was among the top ten source countries of international students already studying and living in Canada as of December 31, 2022, with 3,19,130 students.

Moreover, as of December 31, 2022, there were also 807,750 international students holding valid study permits, another all-time high. With the revised rules, new study permits are now being processed within the 60-day service in the country.

Canada also processed an all-time high of 4.8 million visa applications in 2022.

The country retains its spot as the most preferred study-abroad destination due to the high-quality education, no requirement of payment of tuition fees while filing for a study permit, immigration opportunities post-graduation, lower cost, and high employability.
