Most students who wish to study abroad must achieve a good band score while appearing for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This language proficiency test score is crucial to securing a seat in a foreign university. But many times, candidates may not be able to perform to their potential and have to retake the test to get the desired result.
However, with IELTS One Skill Retake, candidates will now have the option to re-attempt any of the four sections – Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking – in which they feel they could have performed better. This will help them improve their overall score without completely retaking the test. Additionally, they can have a focused preparation to retake one section instead of covering all four.
This option was first made available in Australia and will roll out in other regions, including India in 2023.
How will the score be calculated upon retesting?
Test takers will receive a new IELTS test report form that will include their new IELTS One Skill Retake result and the results from the previous module. This new test report form will be dated the same as the original IELTS Academic or General Training test. They can choose whether to use the old or new test report form.
Students can take IELTS One Skill Retake if :
- They have completed a full test at a One Skill Retake center.
- Students can register for an IELTS One Skill Retake and complete it within 60 days of their original test date.
- The IELTS One Skill Retake cost may vary as per region.
- The timing and format of the IELTS One Skill Retake test are similar to the regular IELTS test.
How to apply for IELTS One Skill Retake?
Test-takers will be able to register for One Skill Retake through the official IELTS website, similar to registering for regular IELTS.
