The Graduate Diploma in Art Curating will provide you with a rich combination of core academic skills, historical knowledge, critical insight and community-engaged experience, creating pathways to careers and professional development in art institutions of all types.

You will explore and analyse traditional institutions such as museums and galleries, as well as the expanding field of contemporary curating and its wide range of non-traditional exhibition spaces, including artist-run and community art spaces, public art projects, festivals and commercial spaces.

Enrolment in a master's by research degree involves the independent investigation of a research problem that has been formulated by you as the student. It is expected that the research you undertake will make a contribution to the discipline in which you are enrolled by applying, critiquing, analysing or interpreting that knowledge in ways that facilitate pathways for further learning. You will be supported in your research by a supervisory team.

The principal research discipline in the Master of Arts is art history and theory.

The Applied Educational Leadership MA is a world-class, fully online programme for middle or senior leaders in schools, colleges, universities, charities, edu-businesses and government. The MSt in the History of Design is a master's degree offered part-time over two years, taught through synchronous virtual and face-to-face teaching. The programme focuses upon design produced worldwide since 1851. Students progress from a grounding in material and historical analysis to dissertation research.

Our Christianity & the Arts MA is unique in being taught in association with the National Gallery in London. The course investigates how Christian scripture, beliefs and practices have found expression in art for over 2,000 years. It also traces the idea of beauty in Western theological tradition. It takes advantage of King's exceptional location by exploring art in London's collections.Students on the course go on to careers in teaching, journalism or the church, or to further research.

Ancient Visual and Material Culture MA will train you for further research in the fields of art, numismatics or epigraphy. Acquire necessary research techniques and skills at Warwick's Classics and Ancient History department.

• One official copy of all undergraduate and graduate course work; the baccalaureate transcript should be from a regionally accredited institution with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). New Paltz is encouraging of interdisciplinary scholarship and we support applicants with degrees from non-studio areas who are able to demonstrate a strong body of work.
• Two letters of reference from former teachers or other professionals in the field familiar with the candidate’s qualifications who can support the candidate’s ability to do graduate work.
  • A 300-500 word letter of intent that states the candidate’s goals for graduate study.

The Master of Arts in Art program is designed to provide candidates with advanced artistic development and professional growth as well as prepare candidates for further graduate study. The two-dimensional areas of studio art concentration include drawing, painting and printmaking. Three-dimensional areas of studio art concentration include ceramics, jewelry/metalsmithing, and sculpture.

The Master of Liberal Arts and Sciences (MLAS) is for students who need or desire advanced education but do not require a specific specialized content area. This multidisciplinary degree stresses critical thinking, comparative analysis, and connections across disciplines rather than specialization in a fairly small content area. The LAS Program is designed especially for students seeking a Masters degree as an occupational qualification and for those who wish to have a more in-depth inquiry into the liberal arts and sciences. The LAS Program promotes an advanced level of critique, analysis, and comparison. Students also explore the broad questions faced by human beings, as well as the specific means by which individual disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics have addressed these questions.

For self-motivated learners with inquisitive minds and an interest in thinking across disciplinary boundaries, the Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) Program is a graduate liberal arts program that offers a diverse range of interdisciplinary courses designed and taught by MLA Program faculty that build upon a foundation in the history of ideas while also incorporating contemporary topics, sources, and approaches to research, analysis, and discourse.

The master of fine arts in arts administration (MFA-AA) degree track is a two-year resident academic and experiential learning course of study that begins each fall. The program includes 60 credit hours (see MFA Curriculum) combined with work opportunities through our professional affiliates: arts fusion, Frehner Museum of Natural History, the Southern Utah Museum of Art, SUU’s College of Performing and Visual Arts, and the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
