Honors Sciences and the Humanities, B.A. at Texas Tech University

Students in the Humanities MA program, design individual programs, combining coursework in arts and humanities fields such as: African and African American studies, American studies, Asian studies, classics, comparative literature, disability studies, English, history, media study, music, theatre and dance, and visual studies. Students may also choose to integrate one of the above disciplines with a social—or natural—science. There are also several formal concentrations within the humanities interdisciplinary degree, including film and media study, social media and disability studies.

The College of Arts and Humanities offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with a humanities major.

The Humanities major provides preparation leading to careers in professions where human values and empathy for other cultures are stressed. Insights into past and present cultures promote greater awareness of the world and its people.

A Medical Humanities major is offered as a collaboration between the College of Arts & Humanities and the College of Sciences, providing students opportunities to pursue diverse career paths in both the humanities and sciences in careers such as medicine, health care policy, law, public health, management, patient advocacy, health journalism, bioethics, and health care consulting, as well as in academic careers in teaching, writing, and researching in universities in narrative medicine, literature and health, or history and medicine. Rather than limiting the student to a single focus, this interdisciplinary study allows for room to create a career path specific to the desires of the individual while laying a foundation for advanced degrees.
