Staff on this MA programme are part of the UCL Institute of Education's Centre for Philosophy, a world-renowned centre for research and scholarship in the discipline. The MA offers students a comprehensive grounding in the field and an opportunity to join a vibrant and diverse research community.

The MSt in Practical Ethics offers high quality training in practical ethics through flexible, part-time learning. 

The course provides opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills in the Philosophy of Medicine and Psychiatry as well as studying other fascinating areas of Philosophy, selected from a broad range of modules and covering all areas of the subject. Geared to philosophy graduates, medical and other graduates, the course introduces them to key concepts, arguments, texts and techniques in the Philosophy of Medicine and Psychiatry.

On this programme, you will have the chance to gain professional skills in all aspects of German, including writing, speaking, presenting and translating, thanks to four years of intensive training, including a year abroad.

You will also explore German-language literature, film and theatre, all within the context of historical and political developments from the eighteenth century to contemporary times.

We have a strong, historic connection with Philosophy at Edinburgh. We count Adam Ferguson and Sir William Hamilton among our former students.

Join the Philosophy MA at the University of Warwick. With research strengths across all main areas of Philosophy, you will discover an unusually broad and extensive range of modules for Master's level study.

This one-year course (two years part-time) provides an ideal academic environment for those who would like to study the subject at a higher level in preparation for a PhD or as a basis for future employment. Significant numbers of former students go on to further study. The course includes research training and allows you to write a substantial dissertation on a topic you wish to pursue at PhD level. Our staff members have expertise in a very wide range of areas, so there is considerable flexibility over choice of dissertation topic. Modules are taught via group seminars and one-to-one tutorials.

 We have teaching staff with strong research profiles in modern European philosophy. They have an interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

Our lecturers have broad philosophical interests and specialise in modern European thought.

You can choose between academic dissertations or the more flexible context-based learning approach. Your personal interest will drive your context-based learning. You will engage philosophically with an object or aspect of reality.

This general course explores key ideas in philosophy. You’ll develop your philosophical knowledge and understanding to a higher level. We offer an extensive range of optional modules, allowing you to focus your studies towards a particular specialism or to explore the breadth of this hugely varied subject.

Our MA is designed to prepare students who wish to continue to a PhD, as many do. We also welcome anyone who just wants to learn more about philosophy, even if your first degree is in another subject. 

The PgCert provides you with an opportunity to study at postgraduate level even if you are not initially considering pursuing an entire MA programme. The course can be taken as a stand-alone qualification, where you can focus on a particular area, or you can progress onto the relevant MA programme.

This programme aims to provide you with a secure knowledge of the major theories, concepts and issues relating to Philosophy in a variety of intellectual traditions and historical and contemporary contexts. You will gain a systematic understanding of a range of debates and discussions raised by past and present approaches to the philosophical reflection. In addition, the PgCert will equip you with the necessary skills appropriate to evaluating, analysing and interpreting both academic and practitioner approaches to Philosophy.

Philosophy majors at EIU study the tools of logic and reason, which open the door to profound discussions about every dimension of human life. As students critically engage with questions pertaining to knowledge, values, and ethics, they build lifelong learning skills for evaluating arguments, fostering healthy debate, and resolving conflict.

The Gerontology master's program gives you an interdisciplinary approach to learning social epidemiology and aging through a blend psychology, political science, social work and human ecology coursework.

You'll study the health of older adults, including risk factors of disease that affect the health of the aging population. You'll also examine the relationship between demographic factors, such as gender, race, SES, and health and illness factors within the aging community.

The program is ideal for any professional currently working in aging- and health-related areas or for recent graduates of undergraduate programs such as:

The department now offers an accelerated BA/MA program. The requirements for the BA and for the MA remain unchanged, but in the combined BA/MA program, two 400-level courses taken as part of the BA can also be used toward the MA. This means that the MA requires only eight additional courses, rather than the 10 required for a free-standing MA.

The UBC Masters in Philosophy provides an opportunity for excellent students to study philosophy at an advanced level; to broaden their understanding of some fundamental questions; and to acquire the skills and knowledge that are necessary for the development their own philosophical research.

There are two routes by which a Masters degree in Philosophy can be gained at UBC: a thesis-based route and a coursework based one. 

The requirements of the coursework-based route are usually met by taking ten courses, with at least six of these being taught in the department of philosophy. Completion of the thesis-based route usually involves taking six courses, and then writing a thesis. In both routes it is normal for students to complete the degree within two years. 

Students have considerable flexibility as to the areas of philosophy in which they choose to specialize. Those wishing to study the work of philosophers writing in languages other than English have the opportunity to learn the languages in question. Most of our students also gain experience of teaching philosophy, through working as a teaching assistant in a variety of undergraduate courses
