The Diploma in Agriculture is a practical, hands-on program that prepares students to manage a farm or work in an agricultural business. Students will develop the communication and leadership skills needed to succeed in today’s Agri-Food industry.

Learn how to produce food in a way that protects our soils, water, and air, how to manage biodiversity and habitat for the organisms we rely on to help us grow our food, and how to grow food in urban environments. This program will prime you for a professional career in shaping a more sustainable, food-secure future.

This program teaches you how to apply economic tools and thinking to the production, processing, marketing, financing, and consumption aspects of the agri-food and resource industries. You will also develop practical and analytical skills to prepare you for wide variety of policy and marketing issues.

As a multidisciplinary major, agricultural studies take full advantage of resources and course offerings in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Geography & Environment and Economics. This broad range of perspectives helps expand the understanding of issues such as policy development, the farm as a production unit and the environmental implications of land use.
