The American College Testing (ACT) is a standardized entrance exam. The test is conducted by ACT, a non-profit organization, and is required by US colleges and universities to secure admission. Due to its relevance and popularity, there are various ACT centres. Moreover, the ACT test centres in India are spread across multiple states.
The ACT exam is primarily aimed at high school students to secure admission to undergraduate courses. It measures their preparedness for college through a common test system. This ensures that there is a common comparison point for the applicants. Along with the supporting aspects like high school GPA and letters of recommendation, this test’s scores help decide their admission. In addition, some colleges emphasize ACT scores than others.
ACT is conducted seven times a year, ensuring that every student receives an equal chance to apply. So far, the dates released for 2022 are listed below.
Each date has different deadlines for registration. If failed to do so, you might encounter a late fee.
A candidate’s ACT score is valid for all four-year universities in the US. In addition, more than 200 universities from other parts of the world accept these scores as well. As a result, it is no surprise that millions of Indians apply for it every year.

Take a note of the following items you need on exam day.
Before entering the ACT test centre in India, ensure that you have a copy of your admission ticket with you. Lacking this ticket will result in your scores getting delayed. If this ticket is lost, you can print another one from your ACT account.
There are certain acceptable forms of ID that are mandatory to be admitted to the ACT centre. If the ACT requirements are not met, you may not be allowed to appear for the test on that day.
Ensure that you bring sharpened number 2 pencils with a good eraser. No other writing instruments are allowed in the ACT centre, including mechanical pencils or ink pens.
You are permitted to bring a watch to keep track of time and complete your paper accordingly. But during testing, your watch must be removed from your hand and kept face up on the desk. Moreover, ensure that is no disturbance, including the alarm.
Calculators aren’t a mandatory requirement when you appear for this test. Only a few types of calculators are allowed in every ACT test centres in India. If you are not sure if your device fulfills the specified criteria, it is advisable not to carry it to the ACT centre.
Even though snacks are not allowed inside the classroom, it is advisable to carry them with you. You can eat them outside the test centre during the break.
Avoid carrying additional items like textbooks, highlighter pens, and any electronic device. These are not allowed in the ACT centre, and the authority will not claim responsibility for their safety.
Lastly, keep in mind that the ACT often visits exam centres to conduct enhanced test security procedures. This may include collecting images of examinees during check-in, among other security measures.
