The MSc in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management is offered over 12 months full-time and combines academic rigour and practical relevance.

In the current global economic environment, there is a pressing need for students to learn about how to manage in dynamic, uncertain, rapidly changing and entrepreneurial environments. The development and introduction of new technologies, systems and services can produce new economic opportunities. Managing successful outcomes to create, deliver and capture value from innovation has become a complex process, requiring broad-based skills and knowledge. This programme addresses these issues.

There is a careful balance between teaching and learning, individual study and group work. Case study methodology and class-based discussions are used to strengthen conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and there are regular seminars by external expert speakers.

Our Strategic Entrepreneurship and Innovation MSc provides students with the tools and techniques to understand and manage entrepreneurship and innovation and to lead innovative teams and organisations around the world. Discover the key issues of innovative entrepreneurship, from how companies identify and exploit both market and technological opportunities, to how they grow and secure finance.

Combine the study of business and enterprise and innovation to prepare for the social, political and cultural challenges facing contemporary businesses, governments and not-for-profit organisations.

You will develop the personal and professional competences required to work across a range of roles in contemporary business including:

This unique course, running since 2008 – the first of its kind in Europe – meets the needs of graduate students who want to contribute to environmental improvement and the circular economy, and learn how to identify and evaluate business opportunities. Students are accepted from all backgrounds (social sciences, arts, engineering, law, chemistry, maths, physics, geology, biology and business).

The course is suitable for anyone who'd like to refocus their career on environmental or sustainable entrepreneurship. You'll develop skills to enable you to launch new ventures, strategies, products and technologies that address society's environmental and natural resource problems. It's a collaboration between the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship.

It has contributions from four other departments:

• Naval Architecture, Ocean & Marine Engineering

Although the course is offered by an engineering department, it's unique in that it accepts students from all backgrounds (social sciences, arts, engineering, law, chemistry, maths, physics, geology, biology and business). You'll have the opportunity to select class options from a wide range of subjects to suit your background.

The MSc Leadership and Entrepreneurship course will develop your knowledge of the concepts, principles and theories relating to leadership within organisations. It will teach you how to apply the strategic role that leadership can make within wider organisational context.

You’ll learn about organisational behaviour, what motivates people and how they work together, how to develop and deliver strategy and change as well as develop businesses within a range of contexts.

You’ll also develop your entrepreneurial skills in relation to business development, identifying opportunities, and international business and emerging economies. This means, you’ll establish a strong entrepreneurial mindset whilst developing your practical skills whilst you study.

This course aims to provide a programme of study that meets your needs if you are a local, national or international student, enabling you to learn by the exchange of experience as well as formal academic study. It is designed for recent graduates and those already in employment.

Innovation.  It is the driving force behind any business activity and managing it appropriately is crucial for success.  In our MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation you will look at the theory and practice, models, frameworks and techniques of entrepreneurship and  innovation management. You will learn how to manage and actively play a role in the entrepreneurial process as well as appreciate the skills required to take a product or service from concept to market by looking at new product development, strategy and marketing.

The course will analyse the dynamics of the business environment and the scope for the strategic response; analyse and evaluate management problems and issues including the consumer’s needs and the political, social and technological contexts within which organisations operate to address the uncertainties of innovation and entrepreneurship. It will also provide you with the skills to identify the most appropriate tools and methods for data acquisition, assessment, analysis and dissemination and how to overcome barriers to change.

You will develop your analytical and reasoning skills as well as your interpersonal, team-working and communication skills.  You be able to identify problems, evaluate and analyse business and innovation scenarios and consider alternative solutions.

Designed by top-tier faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas’ Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Naveen Jindal School of Management, the program allows students to benefit from a unique, experience-based curriculum that features:

Startup Launch Courses: these courses enable students to launch companies while receiving academic credit. Students with scalable concepts can apply for office space in the university’s Venture Development Center and receive customized mentorship experiences.

Seed Fund Venture Analyst Course: where students conduct due diligence and make investment recommendations for the university’s exclusive venture fund – the UT Dallas Seed Fund.

The Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management (M.S. E.R.M.) provides an opportunity to study one of the most important topics in today's business world, in New York City, with several of the world's most renowned risk scholars.  

The M.S. E.R.M. recognizes the interdisciplinary nature of business activity and adopts an enterprise-wide approach to managing the myriad of risks an organization faces. The program reinforces the need for risk to be managed at the strategic, financial, reputational and operational levels of the organization, with well-prepared managers who can guide and build an enterprise risk management process. The public expectation for executive responsibility for enterprise wide risks has risen and companies across multiple industries and countries are seeking graduates with the ability and necessary skills to identify, assess and manage risks.

The course work is based on research done on enterprise risk management practices at companies such as Microsoft, Wal-Mart, DuPont, Intuit, Raytheon, VMWare, Harley-Davidson, and several others. The curriculum is designed for students who want to learn about the following career choices: corporate risk management; risk consulting; public accounting; internal auditing; chief risk officer and enterprise risk management director. The degree offers flexibility so that students can take electives to tailor the degree to their professional and intellectual interests. Students can choose electives in banking, IT, operations, forensics, internal auditing, and others.

The MBA with specialization in Innovation and Entrepreneurship trains managers who can take new ideas and inventions from their source of discovery to the marketplace. It is designed to give students the expertise to assess and realize commercial potential of the latest technologies, as well as to apply entrepreneurial approaches to commercializing technology and innovation.

The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MSEI) program offers students with business, technical, or other non-business degrees a comprehensive graduate education that prepares them to launch entrepreneurial ventures or new business ventures in large organizations.  The 30-unit program will provide coursework and experiential learning activities and expose students to the key concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation including creativity, and ideation, evaluation and screening of business concepts, commercialization and technology transfer processes, business model formulation, startup models and the entrepreneurial process, team formation, intellectual property, marshaling resources, planning techniques and launch strategies.

Taught by a faculty of active industry experts, the program brings invaluable, real-world experience into the classroom – from global learning to teamwork, collaboration and industry projects, students graduate exceptionally well-prepared to lead in the global marketplace. Unique features include streamlined foundation courses, allowing students from any background to get up-to-speed over a single semester; the option to take the unique International Innovation Trip, a component of a course taught abroad at a varying location; and access to top internships through industry connections.

The major concentration in Entrepreneurship provides students a framework for being an entrepreneur. The required courses equip students with the tools and processes for starting a business. The remaining courses allow students to select specific entrepreneurial topics suited to their objectives.
