OPD provides care for patients who are not required to stay overnight in the hospital. In terms of location, the OPD ought to be on the ground floor, easily accessible, and ideally have its own entrance. The number of doctors conducting the OPD, the anticipated number of patients in the OPD, the typical length of the consultation, the schedule of the OPD, and other factors all affect how many OPDs are needed. The OPD must have areas for a welcome and information desk, a waiting area or hall, sub-waiting areas, doctor's offices or consultant chambers, examination rooms, procedure/treatment rooms, support rooms for the consultants' backup and assistance, etc.
