If you have completed your medical education abroad and wish to practice in India, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) exam is the first step to getting that license. Screening Test Regulations, 2002 introduced the FMGE, also known as the Foreign Medical Graduate Screening Test. It bridges the gap between international medical education and the Indian healthcare system standards.

What is FMGE

As mentioned earlier, the FMGE exam is a screening test for foreign-trained medical graduates. It assesses your medical knowledge and skills to meet Indian healthcare standards set by the National Medical Council (NMC). This test evaluates your competence to meet that standard. The successful FMGE degree will make you a registered and qualified medical professional in India. This exam is conducted twice a year.

Please note that this is not an entrance test for enrolling into any medical university. This test makes you eligible to get a license from the National Medical Council (NMC) or any state medical council.
