Roosevelt University, founded in 1945, is a private university that has campuses in Schaumburg and Chicago. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt are honored in the name of the university. Between its undergraduate and graduate programs, the university has approximately 4,000 students enrolled. The Chicago College of Performing Arts is located in Roosevelt.

The university's six colleges—the Heller College of Business, the College of Arts & Sciences, Chicago College of Performing Arts (Music Conservatory), the College of Pharmacy, the College of Education, and the Chicago College of Performing Arts (Music Conservatory)—offer undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Roosevelt's historic Auditorium Building, located at 430 S. Michigan Avenue, a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile, is the venue for Chicago classes. The Roosevelt University Auditorium Theatre and a number of the university's administrative offices are located in the Auditorium Building. With about 2,500 students, Roosevelt University's Schaumburg campus is the biggest four-year institution in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The campus is housed in the Pure Oil Company's former headquarters building. In 1996, Roosevelt turned the structure into a comprehensive campus.
