Montgomery, Alabama's Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) is a public university. As a part of the Auburn University system, it was founded in 1967 by an act of the Alabama Legislature and is overseen by the Board of Trustees of Auburn University. More than 90 academic programs leading to bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctorate degrees are available at AUM. Over 5,200 students were enrolled at the university as of 2018.

UM has five colleges that offer bachelor's, master's, and specialist degree programs in business, education, nursing and health sciences, liberal arts and social sciences, and sciences. Business administration, nursing, liberal arts, biology, elementary education, and secondary education are the fields with the most bachelor's degrees awarded. 

Annual enrolment in AUM's continuing education program exceeds 10,000 students. Certificate programs, corporate education, community education, computer training, languages (including English as a Foreign or Second Language), online training, and youth programs are all included in the continuing education curricula.

Apartment-style residence halls with up to four bedrooms are available at AUM. The four communities that make up the housing are P40 Place, The Courtyards, The Commons, and Warhawk Hall. AUM participates in 11 varsity intercollegiate sports. Baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, and tennis are among the sports played by men. In contrast, basketball, cross country, softball, tennis, and volleyball are among the sports played by women.
