An English-speaking public research institution in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is Concordia University. Concordia is among the three universities in Quebec where the primary medium of instruction is English (the other two are McGill and Bishop's), having been established in 1974 as a result of the union of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University.

At 49,898 students enrolled in credit and non-credit courses at Concordia as of the 2022–23 academic year, the university was one of the biggest in Canada in terms of enrolment. The university's two campuses are separated by around 7 kilometers: The main site, Sir George Williams site, is situated in Downtown Montreal's Quartier Concordia neighborhood.  

In addition to the School of Graduate Studies, the university contains four faculties: the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts, Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, and John Molson School of Business. The corresponding faculties are in charge of the academic departments and institutions. For instance, the Department of Applied Human Sciences and Simone de Beauvoir Institute are under the direction of the Faculty of Art and Science.
